Clearing Her Mind

"Dear, don't overwork yourself, you just came back from hunting in the woods."

"It's alright. And my lovely daughters will hate me if I don't play with them."

"Let's play!!!"

"Yey! Dad carry me in your back!"

"Me too!"

Both the young Sasha and Vivian exclaimed with excitement.

And the younger Biance raised her hand along with her two sister's enthusiasm. Her eyes sparkled. Even if she didn't say anything, anyone could see that she was excited as well.

"This is now a problem, you can't carry them all at the same time." Victoria shook her head.

"Who said I can't carry them all?"

All the young girls screamed as their father carried them fast. He put Sasha in his back, while he carried Vivian and Bianca in both of his arms. All the young girls laughed happily.

"See? I can carry them all at the same time."

"Alright. Alright. But after you play together, don't forget to take a bath since you're smelly. I'll prepare our dinner right now."

The laughter of the three girls as they played with their father resounded through the house they were residing at that time. The house was nothing grand compared to the baron's house. A two storey house made of woods that stood at the top of a hill. But one could feel the warm and gentle atmosphere surrounding it.

'What a nice memory,' Vivian snipped the fresh cold air.

Three days had passed since Vivian left the mansion.

"Hey father, I am finally able to visit your grave again. It has been ten years now huh. This family I have now gone through quite an ordeal in life." With a normal light green dress that covered her sleeves and even neck, Vivian looked at the grave that was below her.

The grave of her father in this world.

Jack.

Since he was a commoner, he didn't have any surnames. Her father was a huntsman before he died in an accident in the woods while her mother was a kind housewife who created baskets and embroidered handkerchiefs to add to their income. It was a simple life before but it was full of warmth.

"If not for the returning of my past life memories, maybe I couldn't remember even all the happy times we shared together as a family when I was child in this world. The feeling of having a complete and normal happy family, it was a nice feeling to have."

Vivian sat down on the grass and stared in front of the tombstone of her father. "Father, you will be surprised to hear this, I have a memory of my past life. Not only that but this world. It's the world of the vampire otome game I played before. You might not understand what that means but I just want to tell you. Though maybe you also got reincarnated like I do already and can't really hear me telling you these words."

"Sigh," she stretched her hands and looked at the clear blue skies. "It's really fun and warm having a family like this. You see, in my past life, I do have a family. Though we are not related by blood, we are happy together as well. But I lost them all in a snap of a finger."

"And now the family that I have in this world are destined to become frogs. It's really funny isn't it? Do you think it's my destiny to lose every family I have?" A brief silence filled the air.

"Like hell, would I let that happen."

"Father, don't worry I don't intend to let that happen with my memories intact now. Though our family now slightly deviated from the righteous path, I don't think it is to the point that we deserve an ending like that. Also…"

Vivian's eyes narrowed. She remembered the first appearance of the translucent screens when she regained the memories of her past life. 'This world will cease to exist huh.'

She stood up and dusted away the dirt from her dress. 'I wonder if this system was the one who brought me to this world. Then is that really what you want to achieve with me. I hate being controlled but since whoever brings me to this world wants to have a story they would look forward to seeing, then I'll give you one. At least, that at least I can do to show my sincerity for giving me a family, even for a brief moment we have joy.'

She looked at the clear blue skies. "But I hope your words will stand still at the very end. That I can do whatever I want in the process." Then her gaze went back to her father's gravestone.

"Father, though I can't really return to how our family used to be before. But don't worry, I'll do everything to keep them safe."

With that said, Vivian turned around and walked away. The wind blew, sending cold chills to her body, but she didn't mind. Now that she was finally able to visit her father's grave in this world, her mind became clearer of the things she would do from now on.

From the tree Vivian just passed by a single leaf flew and carried away with the wind. It flew heading to the skies, and continued to travel further until it reached a bustling town.

The Town of Eprhil. A town that was next to the Village of Sol that Vivian was currently staying in.

Since the day was just starting, people were already busy living their lives.

Vendors were already setting up their stalls. Farmers could be seen carrying some of their farming tools, heading to the farmlands. While most women were carrying baskets ready to barter for their supplies of the day. Children could be seen already playing tag along with their peers.

It was a warm feeling to start the day. However at one of the stalls, a man with long fuschia hair that was tied in a messy bun and beautiful downturned eyes that was playing with shades of pink and purple was gaining attention. His skin was pale white, like he was not someone who was not used under the sun.

He was so handsome and gorgeous that both men and women were attracted to him. And from the reaction of the crowd, he was not a native from the town.

"Sir Isaiah, are you going to the woods again? Here are some of the lunches you can eat during your work."

"I also prepared some food for you, Sir Isaiah." More girls tried to shove their lunch boxes to the gorgeous man who they called Isaiah.

"The boar meat you shared with us is really good. When you return, you can join us for some drinks! It will be on us." The men laughed out loud.

"Alright, alright. Everyone, if you come together like that, it will really bother Sir Isaiah." Everyone turned to the town mayor, who was walking towards them. The town mayor was an old man carrying an oak cane.

"Mayor." Isaiah immediately used this chance to escape and walked straight behind the mayor.

"You have been really popular since you arrived here a week ago." The mayor laughed out loud. Isaiah scratched the back of his head.

"It's just the people are too nice here." He meekly looked down, as if he got shy by the words of the mayor.

"Go back to your daily work now. Sir Isaiah also has work to do now."

The crowd frowned at the mayor's words, but they still followed him in the end, waving goodbye to Isaiah. When it was only Isaiah and the mayor left…

"Thank you, Mayor, for your help always."

"Don't mention it. If I don't help you, your father might suck the blood dry out from me." At the mention of his father, Isaiah's face turned dark.

"Look at this kid, you can't even take a joke. Don't worry, no one knows that you are here. Better go hunt now before it gets dark." The mayor sighed then pushed Isaiah with his left hand. Isaiah's face also returned to normal.

"Thank you, Mayor. I'll bring you some delicious venison for you to eat tonight." Isaiah ran with enthusiasm as he waved back to the mayor before turning his eyes away.

The mayor looked at the sky, where clouds were starting to form.

"It seems it will be raining today." He muttered as his gaze returned to Isaiah's distancing back.
