WRITER'S CORNER
The unplanned kiss was opening the gate for his monsters to surge through. All he desired was making her his but what if he crushed her in the process?
The sudden realization of where he was hit him. He could hear her blood pressure and pulse rate dropping slowly; she was getting too cold.
Slowly, he broke free from the kids, staring deep into her emerald eyes that never changed even after living so many different lives, her soul burnt through them (her eyes). He looked her in regret of what just happened. He shouldn't have, and now he had successfully pushed her back into his arms, again.
Her face was turning pale even as the water washed through her body, as her eyes became too heavy till they closed up eventually.
Carrying both himself and her up, he wanted to speed run home, but even though it still rained, he was exposed.
With her safely on his back, he walked faster towards the main road, before speed walking to his front door.
"D! You're back?" Seth asked from the sitting room, flipping through a magazine as he admired the women on it.
"You went under the rain again, didn't you?" He chuckled softly, but Daemon didn't respond, instead he tried sneaking both himself and Val upstairs.
"What's that smell?" He asked, without sparing a second to Daemon to come to his decision, as he appeared right in front of him.
"You brought a human girl here?"
"You've had plenty of them come over before, I just brought one." Daemon fired back defensively, still holding onto the sleeping Val on his back.
"She's falling deeper into hypothermic shock."
"I know. Her breathing became more shallower, and that's why I brought her here so you can help her."
"Who's she to you?"
"A stubborn classmate of mine that shouldn't be friends with me."
"Should I turn her then?"
"Hell, No!! Just treat her."
"I was joking D. Anyways first aid isn't really that difficult. All you need do is take take her upstairs and help her have a bath not hot enough to kill her, change her into a new set of clothes and cover her up with a thick blanket to help with her heat circulation. A normal person would have cuddled her for more heat, but don't. You'd only cause her temperature to drop more." Seth explained slowly.
"Okay." Daemon nodded in understanding, as he headed up the stairs.
Lying her carefully in the bathtub filled with warm water, he waited for a few minutes, as she started shivering. Scared, he rushed down to meet Seth, who was still engrossed in his magazine, for advice.
"I placed her in a warm bath, she started shivering."
"It's a good sign that her system is back alive. Get her out of the water though." He said as Daemon suddenly appeared back besides the sleeping Valerie in less than a second.
Lifting her dripping self into his arms, he carefully started removing the wet clothes from her. Realizing how mad she'd be if she found out he looked at her naked body, he closed his eyes and trusted his hand for directions, as he put his t-shirt and hoodie over her.
He opened his eyes to see it was surprisingly looking like an oversized gown in her, "This will do", he said as he carried her in his arms to the bed, covering her up with his blanket that hadn't been in use since he moved to New York.
He closed the windows and left the lights on, sitting besides her bed, holding tightly onto her hand, as he waited for her to open his eyes.
"Hope the windows are..." Seth's gaze fell on the intertwined hands, as Daemon shoved it away quickly, letting out forced coughs, as Seth smiled knowingly at him.
"You should allow her rest in the heat. Your cold hands on hers isn't going to do her any good." He advised softly, as Daemon nodded. He didn't want to obey Seth, but he needed her to be better soon and so he left with him, after tucking Val safely inside the warm blankets, closing the door safely behind her.
"She'd need a warm beverage and food when she wakes up." Seth said, as they both sat down in opposite sofas within half a second.
"You're right but we have nothing in that kitchen to serve her for food."
"Luckily, this house came with some basic utensils and though I've not practiced my culinary skills for a while, I'd make you both something if you get the ingredients."
"Sounds like a fair deal." Daemon said, rushing out almost immediately.
"Rude bastard!" Seth cursed under his breath, as Daemon appeared in front of him again.
"Erm.... What ingredients am I buying?"
"Butternut squash, olive oil, butter, shallot, garlic, vegetable broth, maple syrup and nutmeg."
"What are you making?" Daemon raised an eyebrow, already regretting his decision of trusting a Vampire like him.
"My classic roasted butternut squash soup." Seth's face oozed of the pride he felt.
"How is it a classic when we don't eat it?"
"The girls I made it for absolutely loved it, you know."
"It's not like I have any options other than trusting whatever it is you say."
"Well, you'd be..." He was saying when Daemon, once again, ran out on him.
"Is he being a rude jerk on purpose?"
A few minutes passed, as Seth kept his eyes on his wristwatch, waiting for Daemon who showed up with some shopping bags.
"What took you so long?"
"It wasn't exactly easy to find those things you mentioned, and I also had to ask for help with getting ingredients for the hot chocolate drink." Daemon said, dropping the bags on the kitchen table.
"Good job. Now, the next thing on the agenda is preparing yourself for the next mission."
"What mission?"
"You're going to eat when she wakes up."
"I can always say I'm not hungry and moreover, it's been nearly a century since I had these human food." He said, removing the ingredients from the bag gently for Seth to confirm if he missed out any.
"First of all, it's not going to make her feel comfortable eating food cooked by people who refuse to eat it?"
"Why? She'd get scared that I want to hurt her? Why didn't I hurt her as she slept?"
"It's the way the human mind works, so to build trust and make her feel comfortable, you have to eat." He said, as Daemon sighed in frustration.
"It's not really that hard tho. It's tasteless actually but you have to pretend to taste it, understand?"
"Fine." He blurted, walking up to his room to check on the sleeping Valerie.
