Entrance Exam

2 days later

At 4 am...

Ken had completed his basic training with Suzan

"Thanks, ma'am, I have a feeling that I'd be able to ace this exam".

" It's time to head out, let's get going," Zack said.

"Best of luck both of you," said Sophia.

"Thanks, Aunt" Zack smiled.

"Don't the two of you let me down..." Suzan's eyes were somewhat filled with tears.

"Ma'am, don't worry about Zack, I'll take care of him" Ken asserted.

"I know kid, you always had taken care of him...and I'm not worried, It's just...I won't be able to see him for a while..." she barely spoke.

Zack moved towards her and hugged her, "Mom, I'll be back in one piece...just wait for me" Zack looked unusually emotional.

The tears Suzan was trying to hold inside her eyes, rolled down her cheeks.

"I'm counting on you," she said.

Ken seeing this also shed a tear but with a calm smile on his face.

"My prayers are with the two of you...do your best" said Suzan.

The boys headed towards the destination after saying farewell.

"Ken, Increase your speed, a little faster or you'll be left behind I'm already trying to slow down a lot so you not be lost here," Zack told Ken.

"Man, it's not my fault, I just learned speed boost yesterday," Ken replied.

"yeah, you're right about that, looking at your current skills, no one can tell it's your first time using them for real" Zack wasn't much surprised at how fast Ken learned it all because he always knew how capable his friend was.

There was a river ahead, Zack guided Ken on how to cross it,

"So, make the density of my lower half less than water's...Ah, pretty easy man!!" Ken did cross the river with much ease.

They reached the shadow unit of the Angels of the Burning Sun at 5:50.

"Thank God we made it in time," said Ken.

"From up the hill, it looks like there's nothing but once you climb down there's a whole base" Zack looked around.

"No exaggeration in saying it the shadow unit...the shadows of the bushes and trees along the hill and vegetation on the upper side establishes such bending of light that the base looks like it's hidden in shadows... thrilling..." Ken started to mumble.

"Stop this mumbling, we need to go inside" Zack interrupted.

They went inside, it was a large room having stairs at the entrance and on the opposite side, and there were only a few people. They went to the help desk and were given a form to fill out and submit within 5 minutes.

Zack filled out his form, "let's go submit it," he looked at Ken's form "are you confused about whether to write about your clan or not, right?".

" yes..."

"Answer everything honestly, no lies from here on, we can be our true selves here," Zack affirmed.

Ken also filled it out and both of them submitted it and waited.

"There are not many people...barely 20 and it's including the staff, the number of new candidates appears to be considerably low, what do you say about it?" asked Ken.

"Well, it is as I anticipated...as you already know chosen ones are only about 10 percent of the total population plus not every chosen one knows that the enemy is about to make a move...the organization only let the three chosen families secretly know, so they can send candidates they see suitable for joining the organization" Zack explained.

"Yeah, it makes sense...by the way, it is our first time discussing the organization frankly...but right now I'm thinking that what the test will be like, " Ken wondered.

"Dunno mom didn't mention anything that could give me a clue about the test..." Zack told.

*Announcement*

"I hope all the candidates are ready to take the exam, Sir Alex the head of the shadow unit will shortly come and offer you the details and rules of the exam, best of luck to all of the candidates".

A man of about 30 walked down the stairs on the opposite side, he looked fierce.

" Attention all of you, your arrival here and taking this exam is not a joke or some kind of fun excursion, if you love your life there's still time, those are the stairs to go outside...staying here means you are offering your life and your family for the sake of humanity but why should you sacrifice yourself for the sake of some people you don't even know...I am saying it again go if you want to, anyone won't restrict you from leaving, "

a lady who looked very fearful ran, and a young man looked around he also left.

"I guess that's all, ...now I shall explain the exam rules

going upstairs you will find a large base that's an enemy base for you... you will be divided into teams of 3.

Once you enter the enemy base, the enemies will start to attack, and your enemy will be aura-embedded robots having a display that shows their remaining power, your attacks will decrease their power, and at 20℅ remaining they won't be able to attack any longer if they run out of power it'll count as a kill, all of you will be provided with a band that you'll wear in your left arm, the enemy will try to steal that band, having your band till the end is a necessity to pass the exam. "

Some staff members distributed the bands and a blueprint of the base.

"Your main task is to infiltrate the enemy's secret room which has important data chips, your team will have to secure the data chip. There's a total of 3 chips, not to mention there is a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes, you will be judged both individually and as a team to be passed.

You can use any weapons you have brought with you but you can't fight other candidates that will result in immediate disqualification, that's all you have already given the bands and blueprints of the base...

Remember, we will be watching your every move...

The screen on the wall behind you will now show the teams you're assigned to...

The test will begin in 30 minutes till then you can discuss your strategy with your teammates " Sir Alex went upstairs with his fellow members.
