The Guardian Ch 3

Chapter 3

Its been about twenty hours since the jump, so far everything has been going well, I was able to get some rest while Dot manned the station, keeping an eye on things. "Aeon, get up we're about five minutes out till we clear the jump."

I hear her over the intercom, shaking myself as I jump out of my cot, got some decent rest for a Guardian, "YAWWWN... how we looking Dot, no problems with any of our systems?"

Walking in to the command center I see Dot checking over our systems, "as far as I can see everything looks good, the only cause for concern I can see is that our NLS drive and systems need to be re-calibrated, not only did we get to our destination faster then it said, we also missed our mark." Now jumping to attention, "how bad?" Turning to look at me now "not to bad, we're off by a kilometer or two, nothing we can't fix after we go over the data we got."

Shaking my head, once were in a safe enough place I'm going to go over everything again, got to make sure my baby's not sick. While walking to the chair "do you have anything new on were we are going, anything to worry about, and are our stealth systems active?" I start looking a the screens, seeing for myself how far we are off. From what I see, she isn't wrong everything looks like it just needs some more work and some of the data to update it.

"Yes, when we exit jump nobody should be able to scan us, and from what I can get there two anomalies in this system that would catch our attention, two very big one's." She pulls up a new screen showing me what she has, "one is giving of the same reading as that asteroid in the last system, its throwing out much more energy, its massive, while the other is smaller I'm reading multiple signs from it, I believe this might be a space station." Turning to look at her "a space station... are we gonna jump anywhere near it?" "No luckily for us the miss jump has us far away from them that I can still get a scan of them and not be noticed."

The ship starts to stutter for a second and I can see the signs of exiting the jump. The white blur starts to dissipate and I can start seeing where we are. I see a one star system, and from the scans we get two average to large size planets, and one small planet. Then I see the anomaly, two of them to be exact, they both look like giant tuning forks, in the center of them I can see what looks like a set of spinning rings with a massive blue core, and a red one for the other, powered by whatever was in the asteroid in the last system. Then I can see the smaller anomaly now, it looks like someone took a big asteroid and built a space station out of it.

I start sending the ship to an even farther distance, on the other side the system, where I can see some asteroids. Hopefully we'll have some nice cover in there. "Dot... what am I looking at?" I can sense her right next to me looking at the readings herself. "Give me a moment... " she moves onto the next monitor, "while I can't really tell what those giant things are, I can tell that the smaller one is an space station of some sort... hold on I'm able to hack into there systems." I start powering us down so we are throwing off less heat "just make sure you don't let them know where we are Dot."

"Don't worry Aeon, I'll make sure to be careful... well now this is interesting." turning to her now making sure I'm going to understand what shes going to tell me, "whats interesting Dot... " she looks at me real quick, to make sure she gets the point across, "its all alien... " turning back while I stare at her dumbfounded I have know idea what I'm looking at, its not Hive, Cabal, Fallen, or Vex... wait I got something." Dear traveler, why did you give me a ghost that likes to keep me in suspense, "what, what did you find... " "there's English in here give me a second, there's a lot of data I have to translate... " she goes to the back, to a bigger screen so she can show me everything. Making one last check that we are incognito to others I get up and follow her.

"There seems to be a codex of some sort with a lot of information on it, whats weird is that there's an english version of it... " looking at her in disbelief "what, how can there be english if these are aliens we've never met before?"

She starts pulling up this "codex" on the screen while I take a seat so we can go through this together. "I don't know, but hopefully we can find some answers on here. We both start skimming through it, and come to a startling realization, we both turn to look at each other in shock, and immediately go back to re-read what we just saw.

I stand up screaming "WHAT THE HELL!" Dot is tacking this better than I am she just says in a wondrous tone "how... " "HOW DID WE JUMP REALITIES!" "Calm down Aeon, you know the Vex always messed with time and space... " "Yes but for the most part those were simulations, or at least we would now right off the bat that we did go through time and space... " "maybe the Hive magic powered it up to go farther then time and space but through realities." I start pacing back and forth, thinking of what she said, and she might be right, maybe the Hive were trying to use the gate with magic so they can find a reality where Crota won, or where Oryx was successful in his vengeance.

Taking deep breaths while I'm pacing, trying to calm down and catch my breath, Dot goes on to tell me "what I still don't understand is how they have english in there systems, everything so far is show that this is an alien system with no mention of humans" I turn to look at her in shock, she has a point, a new reality but still have english with no humans is an one in a million shot. Going back to sit down after calming down "we need to look through this slowly Dot, we need all the information we can get." Shaking her head "I agree Aeon but there's so much here its going to take awhile to go through this" "we have all the time we need Dot, as long as no one finds us here we can look as long as we want... on that note did you download all this, or is this an open port?" She stills then quickly shuts off the monitor "it was an open port, I wasn't expecting such an surprise, when I saw the english I though this was man made." Taking a deep breath "its alright Dot just run a security check and then download it so we can access it our self without any danger to us."

Nodding her head "it might take awhile there's a lot of information in this codex." When thinking about it this is a good thing, hopefully this has all the information we need to figure our next game plane, "that's alright Dot, just make sure you do it with no one catching us, this could have everything we need, while your doing that I'm going back to the command chair to work over what we just learned, let me know when you have everything." She nods her head and turns back to the monitor to open a download port with so much security it would take me a couple of days maybe even a week to break through "I'll call you when its done, but I'm going to make sure everything is encrypted so this might take and hour or two. Nodding my head I head out.

Taking a seat I start thinking about the past twenty four hours, going to the middle of no where having no idea how far I am from the Vanguard and the Last City, then coming to learn that I'm not even in the same universe, well that really is a sucker punch now is it... hopefully because there's english here then that means there's humans, because whats a Guardian going to do if the main reason he became one was gone now... no, no I refuse to believe that. If there's no earth, no humans here then I'll spend the rest of my long, long life figuring out a way back.

You might send a Guardian through space and time but the mission never changes, I will find a way, either here in this reality or when I make my way back to my reality, a Guardian never quits...
