Chapter 6

Taking a second to try to calm myself, why in the hell is the Citadel government so hell bent on bending over its own people. Bouncing my knee in agitation, what do they get out of this by sending an entire species to death, because forcing a species into exile to survive off of there ships or to go to a war that they already lost once, is the same as saying how do you want to die slow and painful or fast and quick. I have to stand up now my anger is getting the better of me, I start pacing while Dot just gives me a second to try to calm down. I can see her looking through the Citadel laws, probably to see what other crazy laws they have in place.

"Dot what do you mean they can't colonize other worlds? If the Citadel abandon them then they just need to go outside the reach of any relay and colonize a planet with no one noticing?" She turns to look at me and nods her head "you would be correct if it wasn't for the lists of problems they have." What problem could they possible have that doesn't make it a their current plan of action?" Pulling up images of Quarians and there physiology she goes on to explain " the Quarians have a couple of main concerns that make finding a secluded area and just restarting, the big one being is them being a dextro-protein species, the same as Turians, and at odds with our levo-protein bodies." She pulls up what looks like there DNA structure and compare it to ours, "because there a dextro species its hard enough as it is to find a planet that can sustain them, whenever they do find one the Turians show up to claim the planet for themselves, threatening Council action if they don't comply."

Going back to pacing, and clenching my fists as hard as I can, I'm starting to have a new fond hate for this Council. Dot, seeing me pacing and trying to calm down again, moves on "supplies are also a problem they would have, while yes they try their best to grow what food they can the ships, they still need outside resources to help lighten the pressure those ships would feel, of course any repairs would also need them to either scuttle ships for parts or they would have to find outside sources for help." Starting to catch my breath, coming to the conclusion that for the most part I would like to keep my interaction with the Council as minimal as possible for now. I head back to sit down.

"Then there's the big one... " looking at her "what can be bigger then those 2 alone?" "The Quarians have been in exile for over 300 years now, 300 years living in a sterile environment, there immune system is pretty much none existent" taking a second to let that sink in, then looking at the image and realizing that I haven't actually seen what a Quarian looks like outside of their suit "you mean to say they have to live in that suit!?" "Yes, any breach, a rip or tear is almost always lethal to them." she pulls up even more image's of Quarians, all in suits, "Reproduction is extremely dangerous for them, then if they survive through that, at a certain age they put on the suit, and almost never take it off, at least if its not to switch out for a new suit."

Thinking to myself, trying to picture a life in a suit, never to feel anything on my skin every again, and to constantly live in fear of any type of breach. "How can the other race's allow this to happen? There's no way that a group of species can get together and make a functioning galactic government and not be able feel some type of sympathy for its neighbor." Dot sounding defeated "I don't know, I thought that with species acting together, humanity could thrive without the fear of extinction... " she starts closing the monitor down. I find myself just staring into the blank screen looking at my own reflection in disbelief.

Getting up and slowly walking toward the front of my ship, taking a look outside the view port in front of the command chair, Dot follows me in a sedated pace, "Dot, were does humanity fit in all this, are we still at war, are we part of this messed up Galactic government?" "We aren't at war at the moment, but humanity has decided that our best course of action was to become part of the Citadel, from what I saw through the codex it looks like we are aiming for a Council seat... " I take a seat and just keep looking out into space, hating that we are trying to join a grossly managed government, but at the same time I see that its probably the best action to take right now. Better to play ball then be at war with the whole galaxy as we know it.

"Let humanity be for now Dot... " she turns and looks at me in shock, after all when has a Guardian ever said those words before. "We need more time to figure out how we are going to fit in this galaxy Dot." Starting to realize that I'm not giving up as a Guardian, but that this is just too much to take in at one time. "Alright Aeon, what do you have in mind for now?" With new convection in my body "right now I would like to know where we are at exactly in the galaxy then go from there." Nodding her head she opens a monitor to my right, the screen shows star charts and is slowly being updated with what Dot has learned over the past couple of hours. "Right now were are near the Omega space station, this station is like a gate way into the part of the galaxy called the Terminus systems." The map starts to show me the galaxy as a whole, the northern section of the map lights up showing a good chunk of the galaxy as the Terminus systems. "The Terminus Systems are best described as the wild west of the galaxy, the Citadel has no power in this section, its controlled by warlords and pirates."

Coming up with a plan that I can do for know I ask Dot "you were able to enter Omega stations systems right? Can you see if you can find any pirates with hiding place's that we can take?" Dot, working her ghost magic, starts tearing through their systems, and matter of seconds she finds one, "got one, not far form here , at least for us, its a 3 day trip through relays, but if we take a straight shot we can get there in a little over a day and a half." I see her start to plotting our course on the star chart. "Whats the plan Aeon?" Setting up the ship so we can make this jump without being detected, "right now, I just really need to shoot something Dot, but once we get there we'll commandeer their base for ourselves." After checking everything I turn to Dot so I can explain it a bit more for her. "Once we get there and clear them out I want to do a full check up on our ship, make sure we found everything on our first scan, then we need to update the engine and NLS systems, and put in the new star charts."

Turning back to the controls and starting the jump. "Once we have completed that, then we can start making plans for the future, ok?" Dot nodding to me, probably happy that we are doing something rather then sitting here, freaking out over something we have no control over. "That sounds like a plan Aeon, and everything checks for our jump, ready when you are partner." Hearing the engines powering up from a complete shut down, "ok jumping in 3... 2... 1" feeling the ship shudder again, seeing the stars start to blur over into the familiar whiteness. I give it a couple of minutes making sure everything is working on how it should be. It checks out so far. Looking at Dot "everything looks ok Dot, just keep an eye on things here for now, I need to go meditate for a bit, get myself ready for the battle to come. "No problem Aeon, I'll call you if something unexpected happens".

Getting up and heading to my living quarters, taking a deep breath, I mumble to myself, "you're fine Aeon, your a Guardian, you can make it through this." Finding a spot to meditate, I close my eyes. Breath in... breath out...
