Chapter 7

Breaking out of my meditation, getting up and stretching, I've been in meditation for almost the whole trip. Finding myself more awake and calm then after all that knowledge that was just dumped on my. Head clear of the anger I felt. I look at the clock in the wall, seeing that its been over 32 hours and its a little under an hour away till the end of our jump, I head back to the front of my ship looking for Dot.

I find here looking at some monitors, it looks like she's going through the codex a bit more... I'm not ready for anything else that might be in there, might lose my cool again, and I don't want to do that before some action, I need to stay focused. Grabbing her attention "Dot, how we looking so far?" Turning off the monitor and turning to look at me "so far so good, we should be exiting our jump in 42 minutes." Motioning her to follow me, "good, lets check our gear before we get there, got to make sure everything is combat ready." Heading to the back of the ship, where we keep some cargo and I have a workbench to work on weapon and armor maintenance.

"Ok Aeon, from what I can see everything looks to be in working order, what do you want first?" Getting to the workbench "lets start small, give me Devil's Ruin" she pulls out one of my most luckiest finds ever, a Golden age side arm. Black with some silver lining, a 15 round magazine, fitted sights, with a combat grip handle, and experimental under-barrel. Able to fire 300 rounds per minute, or can change firing mods and fire all 15 rounds through its under-barrel in a fusion laser. A trusty sidearm that I found while going through the Devil's lair on the Cosmodrome. It looks like a prototype that was never able to see the light of day because of the collapse. After giving it a quick cleaning and check "looks to be in working condition, whats next?"

She pulls out 2 weapons this time, one that I made and one that a friend of mine made, we woke up almost at the same time as guardians. D, the hunter. Holding up the first one "Eyasluna, my old friend, you're always there for me when I need you." Feeling some nostalgia, I go for the other hand-cannon, "Hawkmoon... " my friend and I sent out to make our own hand-cannons, we went out with almost the same blueprints, but he came back with something with a soul of its own. During the red war, D and I were protecting some civilians when our light was taken from us, in the heat of the moment D took a shot that was meant for me. In anguish I pulled Hawkmoon and Eyasluna and brought justice for his death, since then I've always had them both in my possession. Giving both of them a detailed check, "these 2 are looking good as well... " putting to the side, "whats next?"

Next Dot pulls out a gift from the Drifter, Exit Strategy, a sub-machine gun that's saved my life more then it should have. I've always kept my eye on the Drifter, he just has this look to him, like he's up to no good. I did find it kinda weird when he gave me this gun, but hey a gifts a gift. Nice and lightweight, easy to conceal, and fast to pull out. Really there was no better gift he could have given me, and after awhile I realized, that a pain he might be, he was a pain I could live with. Though it has been awhile since I've used it, it needs a good cleaning, I'm pretty sure that it is more then ready for this new reality.

"Alright that ones done... " Dot summons another one, ah this is another Golden Age tech, A good friend of D and I, he was one of the few Guardians that could remember his actual name. Thomas, we just called him Tom. Tom went delving into a Hive cave and came back with this bad boy, now we don't know what it was called, but we took to calling it "Tommy's Matchbook", cause the guy was a solar titan nutjob. He decided to go back into the Hive tunnel he found to burn some more of them, and just never came back. D convinced me to go looking for him together, we couldn't find him but we found his gun...

I put it to good use and found that I really did enjoy the gun, I decided to see what I can do to improve it, since it was a prototype it was built to be upgradeable. In the end I just gave it a bigger drum size. Going from 75 rounds to 150. The neat thing about this gun is that it looks like it was a attempt at plasma weapons. the barrel is magnetically charged, and the rounds are super-heated to their melting point, when you shoot this gun your pretty much shooting melted bullets at your enemy, all while using some new type of metal alloy that absorbs heat like you would not believe. Of course that does mean if you fire it long enough you would catch on fire... but that's not really a problem for a Guardian. Especially if you were intuned to the solar aspect of the light.

Giving Dot this look she continues on to the next weapon. The next weapon to appear is a long time favorite to me, this one and Hawkmoon have be come my go to when I'm out just doing simple patrols. The Dead Man's Tale, a lever action scout rifle, can hold 14 rounds, 14 armor piercing rounds, able to be fired from the shoulder or the hip with no problems to accuracy. God, I didn't get this till after the Red war, if D was alive right now me and him would have had to duke it out to see who would get it. This has his style all over it...

Knowing that I use the Dead Man's the most, Dot just gives me a second, and then she pulls out my next weapon, The Mountain Top, a grenade launcher that was given to me from Shax. Its a nice weapon, I don't use it as often, because I'm a warlock, if I wanted to blow something up, I would just Nova bomb it, but for those situation where its hard for me to concentrate on the light long enough to use it, or because its just quicker sometimes to pull this out, I do use it and try to keep it maintained as often as I should. Nothing like dying because you were to lazy to keep you guns maintenance up to date. Giving Dot a glance "there should only be one more right?"

Nodding her head she pulls out the Bad Omen, if I sorta use the Mountain Top, then I rarely use the Bad Omen, its not that its a bad weapon its that, as I said I'm a warlock, a warlock that like to Nova bomb my enemies... besides it saves me glimmer, if I don't use these weapons so often then I'm not using there ammo either. Double checking the last two, I give Dot the go ahead to put them all up. I then tell Dot to give me my helmet. Putting on the Eye of Another World, while looking at my Braytech robes, I have everything ready for when we exit this jump. Nodding to Dot, I start heading back to the front we have minutes before we exit.

While I'm walking Dot calls for me, "Aeon, whatever happens in this new reality I'm happy that we're still together." Turning to look at her now "me too Dot, me too, now lets get our head in the game, we have a new reality to say hello to in 60 seconds.
