The Guardian Ch 10

Chapter 10

Making my way down the hall, checking the rooms while I go, I turn the corner and see a entrance that's wide open and looks like it leads out of the base, into a cave system of some sort. Taking a guess they must do shooting practice down there, or it might be a place to put extra storage and the base itself is the living area. Thinking that this must have been a mining base at some point, I start heading down, into the cave. I start hearing yelling the farther in I go, listening as closely as I can, I can make out what their saying.

"Alright you pyjak's, line up, we got some idiot who thinks they can come in on our turf, I want everyone ready to open fire the second they see movement!" From the sound of it, I caught them while doing some training. Moving along the tunnel system, I see a bend and, form the sounds I'm hearing, they are all right around the corner.

Taking a second to think about my best approach to this situation. Forming a plan, "Dot I need the Mountain Top," reloading and holstering my auto rifle to my back I feel the Mountain Top transmat into my hands.

"Alright Dot, I'm going to charge them, when I fire transmat the launcher back and I'll pull back Tom." Getting myself ready, I burst through the corner and time seems to slow down, I can see a line of vorcha stacked up against some crates and the 2 krogan standing behind them, all their weapons are pointed at me. Some start to open fire and I see some rounds bouncing of my shields. In the split of a second I fire in the middle of the vorcha line, when the explosion happens I blink to be behind them in the confusion.

Letting go of the mountain top, knowing that Dot will transmat it while it falls, and pulling out Tommy, I start turning to face my enemies. During my turn, the moment I see that I'm aiming at something I firing along an arch. They are caught completely off guard, the sound of my auto rifle and the screams of vorcha or the only thing you can hear right now. The krogan were in the middle so they had a second to recognize they were being flanked and turned to fire at me, from what I can tell they were using an auto rifle and a shotgun. Their rounds were impacting my shields, but weren't really doing any real damage to me, so I kept the firing arch going all the way across.

At the end of the arch I could see only 2 vorcha still standing, and the krogans took the bullets and were still standing. I took notice that the krogan with the shotgun started to glow, as if he was calling on the void...

"Dot! What is that?!"

"QUICK DODGE!"

Taking quick action and letting my reflexes take control I jump away, and not a moment to soon, the krogan turns into this blur, and charges right were I was standing. He passes right by me and hits a crate that was behind me at the time. Taking a moment to acknowledge what I just saw, I can see in the corner of my HUD that Tommy's out of ammo, instead of reloading the krogan is close enough that I have no problem letting Tom go and pulling out Hawkmoon. Take aim and seeing the krogan get back on its feet I start firing. It take not one, not two, but three shots to put him down. Three shots, two aimed at center mass and the third hitting at his head when he turned around.

All while the krogan and vorcha behind me are still shooting at me, but noticing that they krogan friend has gone down I hear the other krogan scream in rage and the cover I'm hiding behind starts to lift off the ground.

Seeing my cover literally floating away I scream out. "Dot, what the hell is going on." Running for some more cover and seeing that it's farther then I would like I blink behind it. Knowing that he can do that now I don't stop, I keep looking and see somewhere else that I can blink to while they wouldn't know I did blink at all. Jumping to it, I'm in the perfect position and start firing while their still focused on where I was at a second ago.

With two shots, one for each head, I take out the vorcha, which just leaves the krogan left. Seeing that he's the last one, the krogan starts using his head instead of his rage and jumps for cover himself. With him behind cover, and wanting to get this done quick I call upon the Light, this time I'm calling upon the Arc, once I feel it answer my call I through out a pulse grenade and charge at him, knowing that if the grenade doesn't fry his brain, then it would stun him long enough for me to put him down.

Timing this just right, the grenade is out and almost on impact with the ground when I'm jumping over my cover. I hear his scream of pain when the grenade goes off and I run past his cover Hawkmoon at the ready and put a bullet in his head. Thank the Light that krogans still die with a armor piercing bullet goes through their head and explodes out the other side. The krogan falls down with a hefty thud, and my grenade goes out, I only put enough light for two pulses just encase I needed him stunned for longer.

Taking a moment for myself, going over the fire fight I just had, I start walking around and checking to make sure that all my targets are down, I know the krogan are because I took them down with head-shots, but I need to make sure the vorcha are as well.

After double tapping everything I say out loud "Dot, what was that thing with the krogans?"

Dot appears near the corpses, "it seems that I missed something very important going through the codex." She sounds upset and starts scanning the vorcha nearest to her. I give her a little scoff, obviously she missed something, but thinking it over for a second I guess I can understand it.

While Dot moves over to the krogan now I say "sorry Dot didn't mean to be rude there, this is a lot for anyone to take in, I mean you did just download a codex for an entirely new reality, there's just to much information to take in at once, even for a ghost."

Dot stops scanning "yea I guess you right, but still I'm your ghost Aeon I should be making sure your going in to contacts with the proper information.

"It's alright Dot like I said, new reality, your bound to miss something, this isn't like the Hive or Fallen Dot, where we have a back up of information to make a plan off of. This was technically first contact for us, so don't be worrying about that ok?" I go over and start looking over the corpses myself to see these aliens face to face.

"Yea, yea... anyway from the scans I just took, I know what the krogans were doing just then." she comes to hover near me and starts explaining to me what powers or abilities I just saw them use.
