Chapter 9
Dot brings up a map showing me the quickest path to their hideout. "It's a little over 4 miles to get there, about 45 mins on sparrow. Its one the north facing side of the mountain, we will be entering from the west side, moving with the shadow of the mountain." Summoning up my sparrow and nodding at Dot, I can see that she puts up the mini-map in the corner of my HUD interface. Dot transmat herself into encrypted matter and integrates herself in my helmet. Making sure the sparrow is running smoothly, I activate the thrusters and away we go.
Going over all the information that Dot gave me, and deciding on the best weapon to use when we make contact I hear dot ask me a question. "Aeon, what do you plan to do with this humanity?" As a Guardian it's our duty to stand as the front line for any scenario, war or diplomatic, we Guardians were first to respond, to try to get what was best for humanity.
"For now Dot, I believe its best if we take a hands off approach when it comes to this humanity." Taking a second to check the mini-map, we're 30 mins out. "This humanity doesn't face the threat of genocide like ours did Dot, they are in a position where they do not fear of an impending attack from any alien species, they have the means and the rights to properly protect themselves in this reality, they have no need of any Guardian to make the calls for them."
Checking the map, about 15 mins out. Sounding concerned Dot says "so your going to sit back then, and leave humanity alone?"
"No, as a Guardian its always been our duty to make those hard choices for humanity, now I don't need to do that, I can focus on the little people who actually need a Guardian, someone who well come when they call for help, someone who they can trust to save them with no strings attached."
"Good, it just wouldn't feel right if we were to just not interacted with humanity at all, and your probably right no seat of power is going to just willingly give up their control just because you show up and say that you know whats best for them."
I start slowing down the sparrow, the entrance is just right around a rock formation. "Ok Dot, its time to go loud." Getting my head in the game I pull out Tommy's Matchbook, the heat of the weapon will help with their healing capabilities. Walking to stand a distance away from the main entrance.
Taking a deep breath calling upon the Light, the Void it self, and feeling it answering, I condense the void into my hand and take a running start. With in seconds I feel the void ready to be unleashed and jump, at the apex of my jump I let loose the void in all its furry. A nova bomb is unleashed, heading straight to the main entrance, in a blinding light and deafening explosion, all I can see is the void destroying the door and devouring the walls, with in seconds the way is clear and I start getting my hearing back, Dot muted my helmet just before impact.
All I can hear is an alarm blaring, letting my prey know that I am here. Stepping through the hole I just made, with my gun held at my hip, I enter with my head on a swivel. I notice there's no one near the entrance but I hear movement at the end of a hallway. Taking cover against the wall, I see and hear a group of vorcha turn the corner yelling out something, I never get to catch what they are saying, because the second I see them I jump out of cover and hold down Tommy's trigger.
The feeling of the gun, the vibrations as it fires, the sound it makes and the heat it gives off. The vorcha don't stand a chance, I didn't even need to aim, within seconds the vorcha are ripped to shreds. The super heated bullets do their job and do it right. Theirs not a single one standing in front of me and my HUD shows I didn't even use half of my mag. Taking a moment to see if any get back up, I hear more yelling around the corner but this time it sounds like it came for something bigger, and meaner then these vorcha.
"Well I guess that's the krogan... " Dot says, and switches my mini-map to an motion tracker. All it shows me is that there's a lot of motion in that direction.
Soon after I hear even more screaming, and the motion detector lights up, it looks like I have incoming... calling upon the light again, but this time I can't pull as much of the void as last time, but that's alright I'm not going for a nova bomb this time. Holding onto the light and condensing it in my hand, I start running for the corner, where I can hear some heavy foot steps coming. Waiting for just a moment, I turned the corner and without even looking released the handheld supernova.
The krogan on the other side didn't even know what hit him, one second he looks like he's ready to charge at the nearest living object, the next he is becoming a part of the swirling vortex of the void condensing into high energy then exploding and taking out another group of vorcha...
"Dot, how many krogan did you say there was again?" Taking stock of the destruction I made I see a couple doors down the hall and head in that direction.
"3, Guardian, now 2... "
"Good, let me go and introduce myself... "
