Chapter 73. Let's See Who Dies First!

I Will Eventually Embark on the Path of No Return Called a Hero - 73. Let's See Who Dies First!

---

Welcome to hell.

This place is indeed hell, but it is also the best place to accumulate strength. Even the king of the gods, Zeus, cannot spy on what they are doing here. One day, one day, those dissatisfied with Zeus will release them, just as Zeus released the giants. This is how it should have been!

"Don't come any closer!" a Titan wailed, lifting a mountain-sized rock and hurling it at the fast-approaching figure in the distance.

Faced with an attack that was no different from a falling meteor, Cyd exhaled a murky breath, wielded his scythe with his left hand, and swung a black light while raising his right arm to shield himself.

"Boom—"

The black light seemed to pass through the rock like an illusion, cutting through the Titan's body, while Cyd was struck by the rock, the immense force driving it into the ground and embedding him deeply.

"Is he dead?" one Titan patted another on the shoulder.

"He's dead," the other Titan nodded, "That guy is dead."

As soon as they finished speaking, the Titan who had thrown the rock collapsed to the ground.

"No, that scythe has Hades' power. We can't let it touch us or be hit by that light," the remaining Titan gnawed his nails in frustration, "Why! Hades himself couldn't wield the power of death so effortlessly. There's something wrong with that weapon!"

"Right now, I only care if that human is dead or not!" the panicked Titan was nearly hysterical.

"How could a mere human survive! He's long been crushed to a pulp!"

"Can an ordinary human slaughter so many of us so easily! There's only the two of us left!"

"Boom—"

The mountain-sized rock shattered with a loud noise. Huge wings made of scales unfurled from the pit, flapping mightily, and a figure soared into the sky.

"It hurts a bit," Cyd raised the [Reforged Pandora], now reverted to its original form. Orange light spread from his left arm to cover the entire weapon, "It's hunting time."

The mechanism unfolded, and the box split in the middle, tiny parts pushing out, forming a black bow larger than Cyd himself. Orange light etched patterns onto the bow.

[Reforged Pandora] — Apollo

"This time it's the power of the sun! How many gods' powers does he have hidden in him," the Titan wailed, grabbing a stone and hurling it at Cyd.

"My hunting might be a bit... rough," Cyd drew the bowstring, dazzling light gathering at the bow, placing a burning arrow on the string.

"Whoosh—"

The burning arrow turned into a streak of light, shooting straight at the stone-throwing Titan, whose rock turned to magma as it brushed past the light, splashing by Cyd's side.

"No! Why isn't Father coming to save us!" the Titan screamed as he was hit, turning into a man of fire, but in his dying moment, he looked towards a certain direction, "Why are you just watching from there!"

"Got you!" Cyd's eyes narrowed. The orange patterns on [Reforged Pandora] were immediately replaced by silver ones, the bow shrinking to a more elegant form.

[Reforged Pandora] — Artemis

Cyd drew the bowstring again, aiming an arrow in the direction the Titan had looked before his death. Silver light split in midair, raining down like a shower, stirring up a cloud of dust.

Cyd narrowed his eyes, descending slowly to the ground. He didn't believe the adage "where there's smoke, there's no injury," but anyone called "Father" by the Titans in Tartarus could only be Kronos. If Kronos were easy to handle, Zeus wouldn't have sent him here.

"Such a young, impetuous lad," a middle-aged man emerged slowly from the dust.

"Father!" the last Titan scrambled to his feet and rushed to the middle-aged man, "Kill him quickly!"

"Pathetic, birthing you was my mistake," the man glared coldly at the Titan, raising a finger to touch his forehead, "Give it back."

"Wait! I—"

The Titan's huge body twisted into a massive chunk of flesh with a wail, slowly merging into the middle-aged man's form.

"It seems the offspring born from my separated flesh were only this capable," the man flicked away the bits of flesh from his fingers, "They aren't even worthy of the Titan name. No matter, one of me is enough."

"Big boss showed up so soon," Cyd twisted his neck, and [Reforged Pandora] returned to its initial form, "The former king of the gods, Kronos."

"At first, I doubted that a human could possess divine power, but now I'm certain. You have almost the entire pantheon of Greek gods' power within you," Kronos squinted, his right hand swelling and mutating, "Even if Zeus deceived you into coming here, I doubt I could persuade you."

"I can't leave now, and you—oh right, there's only you left—won't let me wander around freely," Cyd grinned, hefting [Reforged Pandora] onto his shoulder, "Let's have a few rounds, former king of the gods."

"Mere human!" Kronos' veins bulged on his forehead, his legs mutating and swelling. The ground sank beneath him as he launched at Cyd like a cannonball, "Even Zeus couldn't defeat me!"

But what met him was a gigantic flaming hammer.

"Boom—"

The ground quaked, cracks spider-webbing out from the hammer's impact, with geothermal flames erupting from the fissures.

[Reforged Pandora] — Hephaestus

"Ugh..." Cyd coughed up blood, his once unassailable immortal body now wounded. A gaping hole appeared in his chest, "As expected of the former king of the gods..."

"Clang—"

[Reforged Pandora] hit the ground, Cyd supporting himself on the handle, scales from his right shoulder winding around his knees to keep him from collapsing.

"I told you... even Zeus couldn't defeat me," Kronos, half of his body transformed, shook off the flesh and blood in his hand. His twisted form began to heal, "For a human, this is the end."

"Is it...?" Cyd wiped the blood from his mouth and swung [Reforged Pandora] into Kronos's back as he turned away.

"Boom—"

The ground shattered under Cyd's feet, Kronos's body bursting into chunks before he could be sent flying. His head landed nearby, expressionless.

"Impressive, but that should be your final attack," Kronos's head floated back up, skeletal structure reforming. Within moments, he was whole again, "You managed to wound me twice. A human can be proud of that."

"Too bad, you only hurt me once," Cyd shouldered [Reforged Pandora], "I won't die before seeing them again."

"Why! I—could it be!" Kronos's eyes widened, the hole in Cyd's chest already gone, the only evidence of injury being his torn clothes, "You're immortal too!"

"Let's see, former king of the gods!"

"Who dies first!"
