Chapter 33. Dealing With This Empress is Faster This Way

I Will Eventually Embark on the Path of No Return Called a Hero [Arc2] - 33. Dealing With This Empress is Faster This Way

---

"Hey!"

A colossal figure fell from the sky like a meteorite onto the battlefield.

"Where is she? The Oppressor!"

Here comes the muscle.

The giant blade swept across the ground, creating a gale that blew the dragon tooth soldiers away. Spartacus, with a mysterious smile, roared out loud.

"Ugh, the Red Berserker is still as fierce," Astolfo, seated on his steed, scratched his head and then slapped his face. "I need to take this seriously too!"

Without a second thought, Astolfo flew directly towards the hanging garden.

"Hmm?" Semiramis raised an eyebrow. Normally, she might have entertained the idea of playing with this rather cute pink-haired figure, but now she was in no mood.

[Hide your Noble Phantasm]

Semiramis's lips curled into a smile as she read out the message made up of dragon bone soldier remnants on the screen, word by word. She then turned her gaze towards Cyd, who seemed to be staring back at her.

"Interesting," Semiramis snapped her fingers, and twelve magic circles floated out.

"Eh?" Astolfo's mouth dropped open, and his pink eyes reflected the light.

Twelve streams of magical energy surged towards Astolfo in a crushing manner.

"You're kidding me!"

Even though Astolfo took out his magic book, it was of no use and was blown away.

"That... that Empress can really see the information we placed here?" Jeanne tugged at Cyd's clothes.

"Of course she can," Cyd casually crushed a dragon bone soldier's head that had gotten too close, then threw the dragon bone soldier's body to Jeanne. "Try assembling another one."

"Um..." Jeanne, holding the dragon bone soldier, looked awkward.

"If you can't assemble it, let Laeticia teach you," Cyd said with some exasperation, watching Jeanne awkwardly handle the dragon bone soldier's body and feeling a bit helpless.

"I think that Empress won't pay attention to you," Atalanta crossed her arms seriously. "She might not even be looking this way."

"She definitely will pay attention to me; that woman has been beaten by me before," Cyd took a few steps forward and rubbed his shoulders. "She was watching us the moment I stepped onto the battlefield."

Atalanta nodded, understanding why she had always felt a sense of being watched.

"Ready!" Jeanne raised her hand as if claiming credit.

"Then Jeanne, let me ask you a question," Cyd snapped his fingers. "What is the most crucial aspect of being discreet and mysterious?"

"Uh... Keeping a low profile?" Jeanne tilted her head.

"Correct. So, do you think that thing is discreet?" Cyd pointed towards the hanging garden.

"How could it... be discreet," Jeanne began to understand Cyd's point.

Although it was night and the Holy Grail War was in full swing, the hanging garden was still too ostentatious. Even at night, it was glaringly obvious. Not all humans sleep at night, and the size of the hanging garden made it unlikely to be moved before dawn.

"So, we need to ask her to put away her Noble Phantasm!" Jeanne suddenly realized.

"No, we don't have the authority to order the participating heroic spirits to stop using their Noble Phantasm. We just need her to use some hidden magic to conceal the trace of the hanging garden," Cyd waved his hand. "But that woman seems to be the type who's arrogant and eccentric. The better your attitude, the less likely she will listen. Being a bit unpleasant might actually work."

For some reason, Jeanne had a bad premonition.

Cyd raised his right hand and gave the hanging garden the middle finger.

"Dealing with such a peculiar woman is fastest this way!"

On this massive battlefield, Cyd was like an ant, high above, seemingly enjoying the play while the Empress, who was watching the drama, would hardly care about the movements of ants.

A large hash mark appeared on Semiramis's head.

The screens around her were filled with blood and violence. She watched with great enjoyment, indifferent even when they were at a disadvantage. But she couldn't remain calm when she saw Cyd's screen.

The middle finger, combined with the message formed with dragon bone soldiers, was full of malice.

"Please don't do this!" Jeanne quickly grabbed Cyd's hand with the middle finger. "This is just abnormal!"

"Ah~ You see, the more you beg her, the less she will listen. Reverse psychology might work," Cyd lifted his left hand and patted Jeanne's head.

"I think it's working," Atalanta tugged at Cyd's right shoulder and pointed to the hanging garden.

The twelve magic circles that had blown Astolfo away were now all aimed in their direction, and terrifying magical power was brewing within.

"Well, it's probably because Jeanne, your message is too ugly," Cyd's right shoulder cape spread out into two dragon claws. One claw lifted Jeanne to shield her in front of the twelve magic circles, while the other claw helpfully held Jeanne's flag. "Hurry up and atone."

"How can you say that! I was serious about arranging the letters!" Jeanne kicked her legs in dissatisfaction.

"Okay~" Cyd shrugged and tossed Jeanne behind him.

"Wait, we should use my Noble Phantasm to defend this place," Jeanne grabbed Cyd's clothes.

"No problem, just stand safely behind me," Cyd twisted his neck. "It's just a magic cannon. Trust me."

Atalanta crossed her arms. With her speed, she could easily escape from the range of the magic cannon that was clearly aimed at Cyd. But since Cyd said to stand behind him, she wouldn't go anywhere.

"Boom----"

Twelve light beams shot straight at Cyd's position. The dazzling light made Jeanne instinctively close her eyes.

There was no time to deploy a Noble Phantasm now, so as Cyd said...

Trust him!

"Noble Phantasms are such strange things," facing the EX-ranked magic cannon, Cyd calmly watched the blinding light beams with his hands in his pockets.

Things that never existed in life but were elevated to Noble Phantasms due to people's praise. Semiramis never had the hanging garden in life, but it was mixed into mythology, thus she possessed this Noble Phantasm [Hanging Garden of Babylon].

Abilities possessed in life also manifest differently due to the praise in mythology. Achilles, who was invulnerable to all but his heel, had the Warrior's Unfading Flower, making non-divine attacks ineffective, while Siegfried's Armor of Fafnir made attacks below B rank ineffective.

Cyd also had an invulnerable body, but unlike Achilles and Siegfried, there were no records of anyone harming him in his mythology, not even his death. Thus, it was refined into a Noble Phantasm that only existed in the heroic spirit state.

Noble Phantasm [Unfinished Melody]

Like an unfinished piece of music, this Noble Phantasm is incomplete. As long as there are still lives that believe Cyd is alive, this Noble Phantasm will never be completed, continuing indefinitely like a song with no end.

Perhaps only when Cyd is truly dead and everyone has given up hope will this flawless Noble Phantasm reveal a flaw. But until then—

All the light beams refracted in all directions like they hit a prism. The dragon bone soldiers around were turned to ashes the moment they were hit by the light, the ground was plowed with scorching trenches, and the world seemed to fall into hell. Yet, behind Cyd, it was as pure as a holy land.

Cyd was the invincible existence.

"Lord..." Jeanne opened her eyes, staring blankly at Cyd, bathed in light.

As the light dissipated, Cyd calmly looked towards the direction of the hanging garden and made eye contact with Semiramis through the projection, then calmly and firmly...

Gave her the middle finger.
