Morning

Mallory did not have long to interrogate anyone before her support had arrived from Visa City and the captives had been taken away.

She did make a report along with Almura, Swaine and Franco about their discoveries within the village so that they would be more prepared when those people were being interrogates back at the city.

Although Mallory did feel a little sympathy towards the daughter of the family that had been used in such a way, she was not someone that was in a position to forgive her for her wrongdoings.

The responsibility fell onto the city lord of Visa City who had to hand out punishments for those involved in harming not only the village but also the trade between Visa City and the village.

There had been deaths that had been covered up and there had been too many things happening that the village head had not reported so those involved and those that were indirectly involved would not get away unscathed.

The success of the mission was due to Mallory being underestimated, her younger age had made others drop their guard and had made them see her as someone inexperienced.

She had used that to her advantage and acted quickly to expose the state of the village which caused those who were in the wrong to panic and meet up to discuss things.

The bonfire created that opportunity for them that Mallory had complete control over.

Even if the movement was very fast to expose them and some other culprits could not have revealed themselves, it was more than enough to bring attention to the problems with the village and to have a complete reform starting from the very top.

If the caught culprits had been questioned enough then they would eventually speak up and would expose those others that had some connection to them.

The villagers had woke up to an average day of work after their long night of festivities around the bonfire and saw the sight of everyone involved being dragged away.

"Huh why is the village head?"

"Was he not assisting that little witch?"

"Oh is that the son, daughter and head of the Bane family?"

"My gods.. the daughter is so pale. It seems that the rumours about her being unwell were true."

"But why are they restrained and being taken away?"

The villagers had gathered to confront the soldiers and officials of Visa City until Mallory stepped forward and explained the situation. "Quiet down everyone. Last night me and my team had caught the culprits who were behind your lands being in such a state. When everyone was at the bonfire, the head of the Bane family and the village head had snuck away to meet up.

They and anyone related to them will be investigated so please cooperate for now and we will arrange things so that they can return to normal for each of you. Those that have suffered during this time will get a little aid and will have a chance to rebuild."

"Huh? But what should we do now?"

"We have nobody as village head. How can we handle the other things?"

Mallory had listened to their questions one by one and answered calmly. "Someone new will be elected that can be trusted by you all and can improve the relationship between the city and the village."

"Oh.."

"So we all have a chance right?"

The plots of land would become free again and just needed a little maintenance after they have been purified so all they needed was a little support to get the land back to normal and so they had enough to survive until then.

When they were gathered together again just like the night before, Mallory was able to inspect their aura to better distinguish who was most innocent among those in the village.

Her ability was not completely accurate and even if a person was guilty of something, it may not be related to what she was investigating.

Even with her ability, she could not find out who was related to certain events unless an investigation or evidence had revealed them.

Each person had their own bad karma that was made up or their direct or indirect actions which would accumulate through their lives, there would be some that performed many good deeds to make up for what they had done so their bad karma would be lessened.

Some could remove their bad karma through good actions but it did not mean they were innocent or had been forgiven for their actions.

Humans dealt with things differently to how good and evil or karma was viewed, it was far more complex due to there being many grey areas in between good and evil.

Some can perform evil in the name of good while the same can be done in the opposite direction.

Various relationships, human laws and political reasons were involved in the process of punishing the evil person unless it was in a place where evil could be punished away from the eyes of other humans and where no laws held people back from taking more violent actions against those that did others wrong.

The dungeon was such a place where someone could cause the deaths of others and their allies could seek revenge for their fallen comrades so long as their actions had not been revealed to the outside world.

Even some individuals had survived being punished for enforcing their sense of justice upon evil existences because others saw those people as troublesome but could not do anything about them themselves.

The rules or laws were in place to keep certain places safer for everyone but it did not mean they applied to everyone, if there was enough power or influence then those rules may not apply to such people who had enough of it to allow them to do as they pleased.

The skill of Mallory seemed to reward her for punishing evil and saving others from harm or dealing with elements related to harmful magics, curses, poisons and diseases but how she used it was how she wished to use it.

In the hands of anyone else, they could see the aura of people then would enforce their own sense of justice without investigating anything.

To the outside world, they would simply see that person as crazy and as a murderer who going around killing random people for no reason.

Mallory had her own views on how people could live and she was already at the limit of how much she felt that she could pry into or interfere with others lives.

It was enough to use her abilities to prevent harm to people and to expose those that had done something bad.

She would still get the rewards either way due to her being involved in them being put under investigation and being punished so long as there was sufficient evidence or witnesses to back up her claims.

Her intervention in the events and the changed result in many peoples fate that would be further harmed and being involved in the capture of those bad people would reward her more than killing one or two bad guys.

If there was a need to grind Excelia and to kill then all she had to do was to hunt down monsters which would not only reward her for removing the danger of the monsters but also providing protection to those that could have been harmed by the monsters.

Rather than relying on talismans all of the time that cost Valis and her own time, magic power or effort to create, it was still just as rewarding and cost her less to target the monsters that she could be rewarded for or solving such problems around her with her own abilities.

Not every villager had come forward to display their happiness towards the change of their life but they had to accept that they had no power to resist.

Their land was not their own and the whole village was just a small part of Visa City, the village head and the Bane family had forgotten that a long time ago and had thought of the city as their own property just because they had gained the land deeds for some plots of land and had a high position within the village to be able to speak for and oversee everyone who lived there.

The truth was that they were just using the land that was owned by others and the land deeds were just for those that had been using and living on a smaller portion of that land.

Mallory had made a note of their attitudes and some names of people that had a clearer aura than others but she had written some advice alongside them. 'They are innocent and do not have any problems but that cannot be said for the future. You need someone trusted by everyone but also someone that cannot become corrupted by power.'
