Warding Mirror

Once Mallory had stepped into the room, there was a dark aura that was beginning to grow larger and had gathered together in one area as if it was forming into something.

The more that it had gathered into a form, the more dangerous it had looked to Mallory.

When she had heard the hoarse whisper, Mallory had raised her hand and gathered her magic power.

Her words were spoken clearly and followed a certain rhythm as her magic power had been controlled by her. "Form a screen of shining light."

With a slight turn of her hand and a slight adjustment to the formation of her magic power, Mallory had adjusted the angle of the screen slightly after thinking a little over the characteristics of her spell so the shield had not been facing the other dark energy completely.

The shining white light gathered on her palm and slowly began to form a round and flat shape. "Deflecting mirror of averting evil."

The dark energy had begun to take shape and looked even more dangerous as it looked very thick and condensed together in a dark grey coloured mist like form.

Just as she had completed the main part of the incantation there was a circular light screen that had taken shape in front of her palm that had covered a large area in front of her. "Warding Mirror!"

Mallory had been successful with the first ever magic spell that she would ever use and it began to take its full form, it came forth after a lot of studying and inspiration to be used for the most suitable time when she could put it to its full use.

Once the screen of shining light had formed in front of Mallory, the darkness had gathered and was sent towards her.

The two spells came into contact with each other as light met darkness, two opposing forces came into contact with each other ad one was good natured and the other was of an evil nature.

One spell took from and harmed its caster the more they used it and the more they increased the power of it while the other had directly opposed it and had no consequences.

Naturally the person who was the strongest and that could maintain their spell longer without it weakening to the opposing force would be able to negate the other force and then get their spell to harm their opponent.

One was a shield that would only be useful until it could no longer be maintained and had been broken so if it had broken, Mallory would be vulnerable to the curse that was firing towards her.

The other was a curse and if it failed to work then it was possible for it to harm its user in some way along with the previous aftereffects they would suffer as a result of them completing the cast.

On the other side within the darkness, the human figure which was very pale and malnourished was displaying signs of weakening further and grit their teeth. 'What.. what do I do? I cannot hold on for long.. why? Why!? Why is it not breaking!?'

She had panicked and pushed herself to her limits until she dropped down onto her knees, she raised a hand to her mouth and coughed "Kmph."

Dark red blood was coughed up onto the palm of her hand and then she had fainted due to the rebound from the curse failing and her pouring everything she had into the curse.

It was unknown if she was dead or alive as she lay there within the darkness.

Back on the side of Mallory, she had seen the aura of her opponent weakening along with the power of the curse that hit against her own spell.

The curse did not disperse completely once it had finished colliding and the other person had no longer put up some resistance, the dark energy that had been pushed against the screen of light had been pushed back.

An averting and reflecting effect had taken place due to the shielding part of the spell holding out so the dark energy was turned away from her.

The dark energy had shot at an angle towards the same direction but had missed the location where her opponent had stood.

If the angle had not been adjusted a little then it would have hit the fallen opponent of her who was already very weak in life force and the aura she had sensed from them so it would have guaranteed their death.

By changing the angle a little, Mallory had been able to test her spell and had prevented an accidental death she did not wish to inflict on them.

The walls had been hit by the spell and the walls had darkened afterwards but there was no additional damage to anything that was living.

Mallory raised a talisman towards the wall and threw it towards the affected area before picking up the light body. "Purify."

She carried the unconscious body out of the dark room and saw the body of a woman that had a withered and lifeless look.

It was just like she would die from a single light touch and from the view of Mallory, there was a strong aura of darkness which was related to the aftereffects of the curse. 'These people really are cruel to make their sister or daughter this way just to satisfy their own ambitions. She could have been a willing participant but it does not seem like this is the best life she could have lived even if she was a willing participant. To live in such a small and dark room all alone.. in such a poor state.. I doubt that she had that long to live even without my intervention.'

A cold look appeared on her face as she carried the body outside then reached into her pocket.

She took out one final talisman and spoke. "Purify."

Light came from the talisman and entered the almost lifeless body that was carried by her and had pushed out then purified the corrupted energy inside her which was the result of all the built up curse energy and the aftereffects that were within her.

Her breathing had stabilised a little but it was still quite weak as Mallory carried her into the night to be confined and looked over just like the others.

Once Mallory had secured them in a safe place, she had fed a low quality potion to her most recent captive.
