Adrenaline

The pressure piled onto Mallory with each passing second as the enemy continued their attack and kept their pursuit.

The small body of Mallory kept bobbing and weaving avoiding the attacks but the more she did so, the more the enemy seemed to change up their style of attacking.

Each of their movements were adapting to her own and they were working as a team so it was even more reason for Mallory to find herself cornered at times.

Yet another automatic barrier formed in front of her to protect her from harm as a dagger came forwards her shoulder causing the dagger to rebound along with the body of the attacker which was a female dog person. "Grr."

Mallory evaded harm at that moment but more came towards her in that instant.

Another arrow flew at a fast speed difficult to follow and was aimed in a way to avoid the barrier that had formed.

Mallory who had been anticipating such an attack coming again when she was seen as most vulnerable had held out a talisman in between her fingertips.

She spoke in her tribes language calling out. "Barrier."

Rather than relying on the function of an automatic barrier that could possibly fail to protect her in time if it did not work, Mallory made use of her activation type talisman.

She had much more control over its positioning and timing of use so she could use it in a more versatile way.

The magic barrier formed in the path of the arrow flying towards her from where she had predicted the attack would come from.

The dog person with the bow was always the one she paid the most attention to so she would not lose his position.

He was her biggest threat that could turn the battle in their favour so she could not stop paying attention to him.

The initial attack that was defended from by the barrier was just her own way of making the battle turn slightly more in her favour.

The barriers of level one could take several attacks from a high stats level one or a level two before breaking so she did not fear those around her from getting to her right away after failing their first strike.

The activation of the barrier caused there to be a gap in time which the enemy would believe it was that time they could take advantage of to land a killing blow.

She lured the enemy into activating the barrier and then lured the arrow to be fired upon her in order to lessen the ammunition being left for the archer and to have seized a little control back in the ongoing battle.

Such a heavy arrow could not be carried around on the back of someone in a much larger number so there would be a limit to how many could be fired unless his allies brought some with them too.

It would be expected that they were quite pricy since they seemed to be made from such a strong and heavy material so there would be a limit to how many could be in their possession unless they were incredibly rich in funds.

It was possible to recycle such an arrow and sharpen it if any damage came to it but it would be more likely that anyone hit by it would be ripped apart by it rather than there being much done to it.

The only flaw in that was that the power used to send it forwards had made it collide against a tough magic barrier.

The rebounding damage caused from the impact would still cause the arrowhead to at least become blunt or bend in some way even if it was able to break through it.

If it suffered such damage then it would be difficult to use again if it was to be as effective and as dangerous as the first time it was fired.

It was similar to how some of her throwing weapons could not be used as effectively after she had flung them towards an enemy.

If they hit armour and shields then they would suffer some damage so even if they were retrieved, they would soon be less effective unless they were repaired or remade.

It was possible to melt down her smaller throwing weapons to remould them before sharpening but it was probably much more difficult and expensive to do so for the arrows.

The second arrow had hit her barrier and came piercing through it slightly off its original path while Mallory leapt forward avoiding it before running at full speed again.

Her emerald green eyes had a menacing and predatory glow in them as they narrowed.

Her smile was wider showing her sharp teeth and her wild golden blonde hair trailed behind her just like her spotted leopard tail. 'That is two.. now how many should they have left?'

She did not have long to think before a bunny male leapt to her side trying to catch her off guard after they caught up.

Valis was turned towards them and was thrust to meet the daggers that were crossed over each other as if to protect the wielder.

An attack turned to defence from their position and the bunny man had to stop their original attack.

Their eyes widened in surprise once they felt the force hitting them and knocking them further back.

They barely managed to hold on and keep up their weapons until the power of the thrust had been dispersed completely.

If it was dropped for an instant then it would have been them that had been pierced on the end of Valis.

The previously killed members did have some decent stats and levels but they were either seen as careless or lacking in experience which resulted in them being defeated by Mallory.

The bunny man was different and he had been able to learn that she was not someone to look down upon. "This one is dangerous! Do not jump in without a plan!"

It was the first time someone had been able to survive beyond a quick exchange with Mallory and their warning was enough to let the others know of what kind of enemy they were facing.

Unknown to them, Mallory who was continuing her speed had grown increasingly more aggressive looking as her eyes narrowed further and her smile became wider showing off her excitement.

Even she had noticed something strange about herself and her body during that time.

It was like her body was burning with excitement and her heart was beating rapidly.

It was like her blood was boiling and rapidly coursing through her body.

All of her senses were heightened and all that mattered was the task in front of her.

All she could think of was the reason why such a feeling was spreading within her. 'Is this my leopard blood? Those of my tribe did love life and death battles, perhaps this is why.'

It felt very addictive to be in such a state and any kind of battle hardened warrior would feel like they had a major rush of adrenaline coursing through them to help them in a fight or flight scenario. 'Is it because I really feel a threat from them?'

The questions were left unanswered since she did not have the luxury to be too distracted as another arrow suddenly came towards her. "Barrier!"

The arrow seemed to be shot from a closer range so Mallory was forced to roll across the ground to avoid it.

Her movements did not look pretty to look at but she was able to avoid harm in the end.

Just as she was pulling herself up from the ground, a figure appeared over her casting a shadow over her body. "Haaa!"
