Character Creation Part 1

Ayden switched view mode on as he followed the calibration steps. He had to lie down so that the headset could scan his entire body. The whole process was tedious as he had to take his shoes and socks off and wiggle his toes and other body parts around for the system to finish the calibration.

Only then did he finally get a chance to get to see what was loaded onto the headset. "What the hell is this? There is nothing but porn on here…." Ayden frowned. While he can't say he wasn't interested he made sure to tend to his own needs when his baby sister wasn't home. He quickly erased the entire drive, resetting it back to its default settings before searching the cybernet for CyPunk Online. When he got to the website, he began reading up on the game.

CyPunk Online is a game that breaks the normal boundaries by mixing western and eastern fantasy into a modern style deep dive VRMMORPG. Set in a mixture of nature and technological environment, players are able to select a class and venture out into the world. Reading this far, Ayden did not see what was so good about this game besides the mixing of two fantasy styles.

"So it is magic based and cultivation based using tech instead of the normal fantasy settings crap." Ayden scratched his head before continuing to look for the important parts.

CyPunk Online, unlike other games, is a real world experience and player driven economy. The credits you make in game can be sold to other players for real world money at a fixed rate with a minimum of ten in game credits to one real world credit. Seeing this, Ayden's eyes went wide. Wasn't this a little too easy to make money? Wouldn't everyone be doing it? But as he read on, he realized something about this game that would make the average player or even a pro gamer unable to make a lot of money in game. Everything had to be crafted by the players. All resources, all the items in game, which did not account for real world knowledge, had to be figured out and created in game. But even so, the game was still extremely popular, topping the gaming charts with over a few billion subscribers.

At this, Ayden couldn't help but lick his lips. The game was free to download but needed a fifteen credits a month fee. Ayden quickly connected to his bank account to see he had a few hundred credits in there. "I can pay rent for this month and buy food even if I do spend an extra fifteen… And still have money left over to give to Madi…."

Ayden didn't know his sister had walked out of her room to hear him mumbling, causing her to tear up. She knew how much her brother sacrificed, but she never thought he would go so far as to try and budget in fifteen credits for himself. She quickly walked to the bathroom and closed the door. She then looked into the small mirror and wiped her eyes. She knew that the two of them were not related by blood.

He could have left her at an orphanage somewhere. But he did not abandon her. He protected her and has been caring for her ever since her mother and his father died. Treating her like true family, suffering in her place so she could have a good life. After going to the bathroom, Madi snuck out of the bathroom and back into her room so he would not know that she had heard anything.

Ayden, meanwhile, began the download for the game. With cybernet it would only take a minute to download one terabyte of data. Once it was downloaded and patched up, Ayden set an alarm on the head set before getting comfortable, he filled out his subscription information before switching it on to deep dive mode. Not even a minute later, everything went dark for a second before he found himself staring at the login screen.

It was just that the login screen seemed a bit glitchy. Thinking it was just the headset and hoping that it would not cause any problems, he logged in and quickly arrived at the character creation screen. Luckily when he looked around at what looked to be some kind of lab, there were no glitches anymore, but he did find the area he was in to be very realistic. He looked down at himself and saw that he was wearing shorts and a white tank top. Pulled on his shorts to peek inside and pursed his lips when he saw that there was nothing there.

The room itself was filled with many kinds of equipment that would only be seen in an operating room for cybernetics. There were a few glass tubes as well, with humans wearing oxygen masks inside floating in some kind of green liquid at the side. The steel plated walls, floors, and ceiling reflected the light white light that came from the lights hanging from the ceiling. Metal piping also lined the walls.

"Welcome to CyPunk Online." A beautiful girl in a lab coat appeared in front of him with a tablet in her hand. She looked at it, then at Ayden before smiling and saying: "I am I-06. I will be helping you through the character creation process. CyPunk Online has seven different classes, all tailored to different roles within the game. Each level you gain will give you four [Augment Points] times your level to each of your attributes, as well as five extra augment points that you can manually allocate.

"Also, unlike other VRMMORPGs, CyPunk Online is quite unforgiving. So please be careful when trying to fight a level 1 monster because they are not as easy to kill as you would think. Each monster in game has also been augmented with cybernetics and will only have a single weak point and a range of attacks, as well as the ability to learn your attack patterns as it fights you, which will make it continuously change how it attacks.

"We strive ourselves on trying to make the game as fun and as real as possible so some sensations will be felt as well. Such as pain, and if your mature content setting is turned off after validation of your biometrics, then you can also feel other sensations as well. Please note parental settings to block mature content is available and will censor all content that is adult related in game. And will lock younger players out of certain areas. Legal action will be taken against those who try to do things they should not.

"Now then, with the basic information out of the way, let me begin explaining the user interface."
