“You’re sure you can come right?” I spoke into the phone as I cut the bananas and slid them off the board and in the milk shaker. “By the morning sun and by the night sky when it has fallen, I promise I will come to your party”. 


I smiled as he quoted the first book I had ever written and put the lid on and turned on the shaker. The loud noise started coming out as I went out of the kitchen to call my kids down. “You better not, and make sure Oliver comes with you” I said, mentioning Daniel’s boyfriend. He told me the truth about his sexual preferences a while after graduation and a few months later, he told our parents. 


The had heart attacks when they found out their oldest son was gay. Daniel moved out a few days after their disapproval, Braden going with him. I had a much better relationship with my brothers now.
