Sabine.
Sabine has been on the road now for two long agonizing days. Now here she was another deadbeat town sitting on her R1 outside a place called “Rev Em Up” Pub and Grub. There were bikes parked outside and Sabine was scared that maybe someone from the Sons could be inside, hunger won over in the end and any insecurity she might have had flew right out the window. She took a deep breath, threw her leg off the bike, took off her helmet, and headed inside the dilapidated building.
The dim lights and pungent smell of stale liquor and perspiration mixed with fried onions filled her lungs, making her gag. This was the most inconspicuous place she thought of eating, surely Victor and the Sons would not expect her to be hanging out in a biker’s joint. Well damn, she really hoped so. Scanning the joint she never saw anyone she might know, so she headed over to the bar. The men all around her gave her appreciative glares all of which was making her increasingly nervous.
Sabine waited about two minutes before a burly man with greasy hair tied back in a ponytail wearing black jeans and just a cutte walked over to her.
“Hey gorgeous, what can I get you?” he asked giving Sabine a once-over scan of her body, like a hungry wolf.
“A beer, cheeseburger, and fries please” she responded to his uncomfortable gaze. Not because she thought he was attractive although he wasn’t a bad-looking man, Sabine was so done with the male species, all she wanted was to start afresh and never look back. Why is it that when men look at her, all they can see is the package, inside that package was a damn good woman with brains and intellect, yet all they see is the body, a shell, which they feel they are free to use and abuse as they see fit. What she really wanted right now, was to sit quietly without distractions and eat her burger and fries, and enjoy her beer.
“What’s your name, sweet cheeks?” a man asked standing next to Sabine staring at her as she put a fry in her mouth. Sabine immediately froze at the term of endearment he used, that name will forever be etched in her subconscious, making her very edgy. This time though, she will not lie down and accept what is about to happen to her, from now on she will fight back, with all the pent-up abuse and anger from before, pushing its way to the surface. She will no longer be a victim, Sabine is a survivor.
When Sabine never took any notice of the man, now standing behind her, he whirled her around to face him. The look on his face did not promise good things at all. With the chair falling to the floor, he pushed her up against the bar.
“I asked you a fucking question bitch” he snarled, the smell of his breath almost knocking her unconscious.
Before anyone around her could react, she lifted her knee and connected him full force between his legs, making the man fold like a piece of paper.
“Butch, back the fuck off man” the barman yelled, pointing a baseball bat at the man, I now know is named Butch. Throwing the bat now from one hand to another, ready to strike at a moment’s notice if he needed to. Where the hell he got that from in the blink of an eye is a mystery. Everyone seemed to be on edge.
“Listen here lady, I think you should leave, you just poked a bear and it ain’t gonna end well if you stay,” the barman said with sad eyes. Sad that things had to end the way they did. Sabine took some cash out of her leathers and threw it on the bar.
“Thanks for the meal and the entertainment” she spat looking down at the looser that is still crouching at her feet, as she waltzed out of the bar.
Sabine got on her bike and took a deep breath where the hell did that come from? she thought to herself. She never wanted to make a scene, as she wanted to stay under the radar, well so much for that idea. Just then the barman came hauling ass with her meal in a bag.
“Sorry about the drama that unfolded inside and that you never got to finish your meal”
“Thanks, I guess, shit happens right?” I say taking the bag from him and putting it away. I put on my helmet and sit down again, revving up my monster. The man takes a step away and I haul ass away from this place.
Two more days of riding and ill behavior from the men around her at the stops, man how she wished she was in that small town that her cousin Chris was in. Running was not fun, having to watch her back, checking for cameras so that her tail isn’t exposed, eating at dingy pubs and dealing with scum, then sleeping in musty motels, was also very uncomfortable. Looking over her back constantly, this was not the life she envisioned for herself. But for now, it has proven to be a necessity. Luckily thus far, Sabine has remained under the radar and is one town away from finally reaching her destination.
Chris is luckily someone Victor hasn’t heard of or met yet. He was never big on meeting Sabine’s family and pretty much enjoyed alienating her from everyone she knew outside of the club, and that included her family. Sabine will finally see Chris tomorrow. She had promised Sky that as soon as the dust settles that she would contact her. She is dying to hear her friend’s familiar voice and to hear what is happening with Victor and if he is after her already.
Considering that a week has passed she is almost positive that he has figured out that the three hundred grand is missing and that he will be hot on her trail by now if he can sniff her out.
Sabine arrived at another seedy motel and booked a room where she proceeded to take a shower so hot it could peel the paint off the walls. The term of endearment ‘Sweet cheeks’ ran on a loop through her mind. Still, after almost a week that word still triggers the feeling of Ty’s hands roaming all over her body.
Desperately needing to get some sleep she looked over at the two windows next to the door and decided to make doubly sure it was closed and locked before she started to drown her sorrows in all the alcohol. Almost the whole bottle down and the time nearing one am, sleep still evading her, so she was surprised when her phone rang and Chris’ name was flashing on her screen.
“Hello” she answered finally feeling that the alcohol was doing what she intended it to do.
“Hey, are you okay? You never checked in tonight, so just got a little concerned” Chris states very concerned.
“Yeah sorry about that, it’s just been a long day and it kind of slipped my mind. I will see you soon, try not to worry so much, okay”
“You sound off, are you sure you are okay?” Sabine didn’t really want to rehash the events of earlier and by the sounds of Chris, he was at a club of sorts because of all the noise she could hear in the background.
“Yeah I am fine really, was just heading to bed that’s all”
“Okay sorry then, we will catch up later then, sleep tight,” he says cutting off the call.
