The man in the room came closer to Naira. Richard didn't intend to make her cry. He took her face in his hands and looked at her.
"I am sorry, Naira. But I just love you too much to let you go. I know it was me who made a bet with Hector. But I had fallen for you after you had come to my father. When I got to know you were my cousin, we became close. I fell for you after then. You changed me Naira. But for you... You never loved me, did you?" He asked with a tint of anger,
"Was this because of that Hector? Why Naira why? Why do you yet have feelings for him after all those lies I told you? I feared that after knowing that he truly loves you, you would change your mind. So I lied to you. I made up stories of how cruel and unworthy Hector was. But still why? Why do you care for him and never looked for me? How can he get whatever he wants and I break apart? No, I won't let this happen. I won't let him win."
Seeing the craziness in Hector's eyes, Naira could feel the chills in her veins. She pushed Hector away from her.
"I didn't know you were this crazy," Naira said understanding his intentions. She ran to the door and opened it. She began running but Richard followed her.
"Guards. Guards! Don't let her escape."
Naira was about to unlock the main door when four bodyguards with black suits and giant bodies blocked her. With fright, she turned behind where Richard stood breathing heavily.
"Where do you think you are escaping? You can't leave here. You can't leave me!!!" Richard said with the most dominating tone.
***
Naira sat on the comfortable bed. Though everything around her was filled with luxury, she didn't want to stay there. She wanted to get out of the house but more she wanted to find Hector. She wanted to know if he was well. She was worried sick about him for the past 3 days.
Suddenly a slow creak sound appeared as the door slightly opened. Richard looked at the soulless eye of Naira. He had locked her for three days in hopes of her coming back to him but it felt all useless.
"Have you changed your mind?" He asked the lady who yet did not look at him. He knew he would yet receive a disappointing answer but still, he wanted to know.
"..."
He looked closely at Naira. Seeing her broken down completely his heart ached. No, this was not what he wanted. But now what should he do? What was the best thing to do?
Without a word, Richard left the room. But unlike usual time there was no sound of a key that Naira heard. With hope, she got down from the bed. Slowly going to the door and paying a silent prayer, she turned the knob. To her surprise and delight, it opened.
Without wasting any more minutes Naira ran outside the mansion. On the way, she found a table with a key to a car. She grabbed it and proceeded outside. She got the right car in her most haste manner and drove.
**
On the balcony of the mansion, stood the same man who had visited Naira a while ago. He had no expression on his face for some time. He looked at Naira who disappeared with his car into the dark streets.
"Sir, why did you let her go?" Asked Richard's assistant
"John, do you know what heartbreak feels like."
"..."
"It feels like someone punching you from out. I can't yet believe that I made Naira feel it."
"But sir, even your losing your love." Said the assistant
"Yeah and I deserve it... But for some reason, John, I feel good. I know it is not the best thing for me to do but it is the right thing to do." Richard said with a pleasant and satisfied smile...
