'It is safe to say food will still taste delicious even in a different world,' Charlotte thought while slowly savoring the food.
She took her time eating as there was no rush, so she contently ate.
Her little robot friend seemed to occupy itself with chores around the house so she let it be and paid no mind.
The news broadcasted that morning felt normal, or at least typical for the society in which this world was set in.
There was news about a car crash that happened yesterday night and as they were explaining the situation. They also reminded people to always update the car's detection and sense of awareness to ensure complete safety for the citizens. They further cautioned viewers to install different protection systems and remind them to turn on autopilot when they are not in the right condition to drive.
'As if the world we live in had automated detection systems. It feels more like a challenge to even trust a robot, let alone let one drive your own car.'
'Well, I may be ridiculing them but it doesn't seem hard for people to trust technology in this world as they got used to it.'
'This is a really accurate portrayal. Technology advancements require a change in mindset. Ah- but how do people afford these cars?'
As the news played out, Charlotte drank the glass of milk that was placed on the table and continued to listen.
The next set of news was about a celebrity. The news anchor reported on their little scandal and how they cheated on another famous person.
'Ah yes, old and young all pay attention to celebrities and count it as news. It's remarkable how they see these types of things on TV. We changed quite a bit haven't we?'
As the news went on about the celebrity, Charlotte continued to grin in amusement.
'Well, I can't blame them. I am also invested without knowing who they are. Generations can change so quickly.'
As they quickly wrapped up the news on the celebrity person, Charlotte finished her plate and went to put it in the sink.
A thought she didn't expect to occur suddenly popped up.
'Do... I need to wash it?'
The robot who was working around the house saw her little dilemma and cried out, "I'll take care of them later! Just sit down Ms. Charlotte!"
She gave it a reassuring look and sat back down on the couch.
'Daily life definitely significantly changed. Technology was truly set to ease up one's life.'
Charlotte once again paid attention to the TV and she was surprised to see what was on screen.
They were giant robots just casually walking. They were all formed in a line and faced the camera. Another different colored robot walked up and was positioned at the center of the screen.
There were people, who looked like officials who walked up to the big robot and stood there, expecting something to happen.
The robot's chest, or a piece of it, opened up and revealed a human being inside. The person looked stern and righteous as if a commander showing their authority. They descended from the robot and shook hands with the officials.
While recording this dramatic scene, the news anchor could be heard.
"The Federation Army will in a couple of days commence their return to the battlefield, bravely marching out in honor of our nation. President Louise will now be sending the commander of the first quadrant and his army out."
It then cut to the assumed president standing on top of the podium delivering a speech.
"It is of great honor to be here today and send out our nation's military forces. We wish them the best of luck and a safe journey as they venture out to serve our nation. With the modifications made on the newly released mechas, we can be ensure of a bright future."
It then cuts to them shaking hands and looking at the camera.
"On to our next news..."
Charlotte was quiet but couldn't help but widen her eyes.
'Am I in a world of mechas? Like what they usually write in novels? Like actual robots combating?'
Her eyes filled with curiosity.
'I wonder how tall it actually is... What a world!' she couldn't help exclaiming in her mind.
'But, aren't the two stories too contradicting?' she mused.
Charlotte couldn't help but try to search for more information about her setting. But there was a problem.
'How do I find anything without a phone?'
Not knowing how to proceed, she turned her head to the robot and asked.
"Do you know where my phone is?"
The robot then looks at Charlotte. She could feel its confused gaze.
"Phone? How old are we to use phones? Although phones were the original technology, we have no need for them anymore."
"No need?"
"Yes!" the robot responded in a confused manner. "Have you forgotten what a headset is?" the robot questioned.
Charlotte decisively shook her head.
"The one you just recently bought is even the new model! It is said that there were quite a few adjustments made!" the robot cheerfully said.
'I guess we are evolved enough to use headsets?'
After acquiring new information, she walked into her bedroom and took the headset from its charger.
It sounded out, "Mobile Headset version 7.0 has been charged 95%."
Charlotte inspected the device and slowly figured out how to put it on.
A blue screen appeared in front of her.
