"I make no such promises" 46

It was around this time Dana arrived and waited for a while before approaching the child.

She could see how terrible the child was in playing children games but she knew better than to pull the child away so instead she quietly approached the child and whispered in to her ear.

Asahel was surprised by the sound she heard but she quickly came to herself and listened to what was said.

It didn't take long for her to comprehend the words and she immediately implemented it

As soon as did what she was told even though it was hard to focus due to the noise around she tried her very best, after failing twice she got her first win on the third try after getting some advice

This brought a rare smile to her face but it immediately faded when the price she won wasn't the bird

She looked at the prize she won which was a golden rubber fish, it was beautiful and other children admired it but she wanted the bird

It was more acttractive and looked alive, it looked like it could move with some few turns

She was about to continue playing but Dana spoke to her

"Child let's go back to the camp and show the others what you got"

Asahel looked at Dana and wondered when she became so...so close

"I'm not going yet I want to win that bird"

Dana knew the fish wasn't enough but she thought since the child hadn't won anything this alone could make her happy and willing to follow her

She could only sigh and curse her luck for being responsible for this annoying child who seemed to be favoured even by their Father

But she quickly put that thought aside and bent down to reach the child's height

"Alright but you'll have to let me help you and you have to promise me that once we get the bird before others gets it we will go back but if we don't get it on time we will take what we have and go back promise?"

Dana spoke up with a smile and held her pinky finger up waiting for Asahel to act like children her age would, and pinky swear

Besides it always work

Unfortunately for Dana this child was older and hard hearted

"I make no such promises...I came here alone and until I'm done that's when I'll leave"

Dana was taken aback by Asahel's words and she couldn't help but frown but as always those frowns quickly faded

She wasn't kept in charge of children like Asahel for nothing

"I see....well ain't you a very strong girl alright I understand... promises aside there are alot of children waiting for you back at the camp but not to rush you let's do whatever it takes to win that bird... hahahahaha...what do you say"

Asahel felt a complicated emotion from Dana but didn't think much of it instead she nodded at Dana's word and returned her focus to the game

Dana on the other hand had a very scary expression written on her face as she watched the child continue to play

'What does father see in this child she's completely insolent and full of her self....calm down Dana you've been doing this for over fifty-three years now and you've been able to make every child listen to you, this one is no exception... alright let's see she wants to win the bird right and she's obviously too stupid to know how to play, what to do..... What to do....hmmmmmm'

"Dad did you see me I was so close"

"Hahaha that's my son of course you'll get it next time just keep doing what I say"

"Mummy...I really want that bird"

"Honey you've won alot of prizes though that bird is really beautiful but I can't continue spending money on one game"

"Big brother... please pretty please another copper coin this time I'll get the top prize"

"Sig....h that's the tenth time you said that....do you think money grows on tree you've got some good looking prize try to be contend alright now let's go"

"but I don't wanna....."

"stop being stubborn...let's go or I'll take everything back"

"Aunty...can I have some copper coin to play too?"

"sigh...well it looks fun alright try your luck but promise me once the money I give finishes you won't ask for more...I mean we need to eat you know"

"Thank you aunty"

Dana couldn't help but listen in on the conversation going around, then she turned back to the child who was still paying another copper coin to try again

'Were does she get her money from...why I'm I even bother let's get down to business so I can leave here'

With that she came to a conclusion, many people don't believe in strange and supernatural things so it's very hard for them to see if such is happening around them

While Asahel was struggling to win the prize she wanted using the advice she got earlier she was able to win some extra stuff and lose alot along the line but that did not mean others were not trying as well to win a bigger and more acttractive prizes.
