Chapter 1: Price of Rebirth

Kevin was sitting in a taxi heading back home after a failed audition.

His day had already been awful, but little did he know it was only about to worsen.

Kevin's taxi was heading straight on a two-way road. The road had traffic on both sides, but it was moving traffic, so it wasn't so bad.

Unfortunately, the traffic was the least of Kevin's concerns as he would soon meet his demise.

A black sedan from the opposite direction suddenly lost control and collided head straight with Kevin's taxi.

It caused a chain collision, and tens of people died from a single black sedan.

Right before Kevin died, his entire life flashed before his eyes showing him how he had just wasted his whole life trying to make it as an actor.

At that moment, Kevin couldn't help but beg God for another chance at life.

Kevin, in his mind, "I am willing to suffer through anything for another chance to live."

Kevin then took his last breath inside the burning taxi.

Suddenly Kevin started feeling weightless and found all his pain had disappeared.

When he opened his eyes, he found himself in an extremely white room with a shadowy black figure standing in front of him.

He couldn't keep his eyes open due to the light in the room and was forced to close his eyes due to pain.

The room was silent for about five seconds before Kevin heard a loud finger-clicking sound.

It caused him to feel tremendous pain in his head and fall to his knees.

This pain lasted a few seconds but soon vanished as if it had never existed.

Kevin finally opened his eyes once more and found himself lying in his bed at home.

Kevin couldn't help but ask aloud, "Was that all just a dream?"

He soon found out the answer to his question through a voice that appeared out of nowhere.

Kevin couldn't help but panic at the sight of this blue panel and pop-up.

[Scanning for Entities]

[No Entities Found]

[Searching For Reason]

[Reason Detected]

[Deploying Voice Modulation]

[Starting the Pre-recorded Message]

Kevin then started hearing a more human voice in his head.

"I know you are probably confused, so I will leave this recording inside the system to help you."

Kevin - "Who is there? What's going on?"

"You are probably asking who I am. The answer is simple I am the one and only omnipotent being that looks over the cosmos."

Kevin - "I am talking to God?"

"That's right, I am what you humans call God."

Kevin - "So, did I die, or was it all a dream?"

"You are now probably wondering if you died or not. The answer is simple you died, but I decided to grant your last wish."

Kevin - "Wait, so I died and was reborn? Is this still my body?"

"I have rewinded time to a day before your accident. So you are still in your universe."

Kevin - "Thank you, God, for giving me another chance. I won't let you down."

"So you are now probably wondering why I gave you a chance. You see, everything comes for a price."

Kevin- "A price?"

"Yes, you have to pay the price for this new life. That price is you have to help me clean up or capture all the ghosts that still float in the human realm."

Kevin spooked out and asked, "Ghosts are real?"

"Well, technically, not only ghosts, but there will also be other paranormal things like possessed dolls, etc."

Kevin - "How am I supposed to help you with that? I am so weak I can't even fight another man, much less a ghost."

"That is why I leave you this system. You can do missions and get rewards to help you on your quest."

Kevin - "I see but, like, can you explain the system."

"So the system will release a task every week. It will also specify what you will face and what location you have to go to."

Kevin - "Different locations? Every week? How am I supposed to earn money for all this?"

"Money is not an issue. The system automatically records your experience and uploads it to YouTube."

"You will slowly build an audience there and start making enough money."

Kevin - "But what if the video flops and I don't get famous? Then what?"

"Come on, do you think that will ever happen? You do remember who I am, right? I am God."

Kevin - "I see, so you will help me out."

"Precisely."

Kevin - "One last question, so if the task requires me to do a ritual and my audience does it too, will a ghost appears for them too?"

"No, only you possess the power to summon from the Nether realm."

"Also, remember you have only one life. If you die, it's game over."

"All right, that will do for the recording. I should get going. Those Cypians are about to start an inter-universe war."

"Bye."

Kevin was left speechless God really dropped a bomb on him and dipped.

Not only did he learn that he has only one life but also that Aliens one hundred percent exist.

As Kevin's thoughts started to go wild, imagining what a galactic war would look like, he was soon woken up to reality by an essential pop-up.

Kevin said, "Damn, looks like I would have died either way. There is a ghost in my building."

"Thankfully, it's on the 13th, not the 9th floor. If it was on my floor, I don't know if I would be able to sleep tonight."
