Cross didn't know where he was now in this district. His location was uncertain. He also didn't have a proper destination because all he knew was that just when entering this place they would make a plan on how to rescue their objectives.
And since he was exempted to participate in the mission, he had no idea where each group went.
Maybe if he hadn't fallen into the tunnel earlier, he would have been able to track where everyone possibly went, but at this point, he didn't know. Even if he looked up, he couldn't see anything that could give him a clue. The sky was too dark inside this place. As though the sky above this place was covered in dark clouds. It wasn't the same outside though.
This place seemed like it was another dimension.
