Case 012 -A set-up.

Jeremiah couldn't let go of that set-up by Lachanan so he began a plan of retaliation that would at the very least severely undermine his opponents, and at best allow Lachanan and her associates to be deposed immediately.

The plan was simple enough. Well, at first glance. Lachanan was trying to start an expansion into South Asia and wanted to do so through personal ties to Darra Polytechnic. More specifically, connections to one of the families that owns the corporation.

Using her personal connections and influence within Trauma Team she wanted to make something akin to a collaboration. Trauma Team would enter a new market and could gain a foothold there with Darra's help. Darra, on the other hand, was acquiring a good advertising platform in the form of Trauma Team. Apparently they are planning to launch a new higher quality line of products compared to the cheap guns that they are known for in the world.

So back to how our plan is to screw up all of Lachanan's endeavors. Soon she will have a meeting with the heir to one of Darra's ruling families. During the meeting there will be a so called mercenary attack. They have to take out most of the guards of the guests and all of Lachanan's bodyguards as quickly as possible. Yeah, we have to kill some of our people, but they are too loyal to Lachanan and that's the reason for their death sentence. At the last moment we arrive, "saving" Lachanan leaving her guests behind. Darra's men are killed by mercenaries, and it's not like we had anything to do with it. They are not listed as clients and their only protection was a assurance from Lachanan, her personal promise and guarantee, not the Trauma Team.

And if she wanted to give them protection as gold level clients, the request for protection might come too late or get lost somewhere. And in case of a legal dispute, the whole thing could be declared to be Lachanan's personal fault. Allegedly she failed to follow up and showed unprofessionalism. PR and the legal department could join in to sink Lahanan completely.

The plan isn't too bad, although it was created within a couple of weeks in utmost secrecy. But an extra backup wouldn't hurt. So I asked Jeremiah to probe the situation with the other members of the representative's family. After all, it's possible to get the younger brother on our side, and if we fail, we can start working with uncles, aunts, and cousins. Logic here is quite simple. Why remain second if you can become first. If we can find such an ambitious person, we can get not only more information, but we can also mitigate the possible negative consequences of killing Darra's representative.

Now to the details of how exactly we are going to act. The snipers among the guards should be taken over by netrunners. After they are out of play, our snipers will begin to move into position. Once in position, they should signal mercenaries to advance. When the mercenaries will be close enough snipers will begin to take down the most dangerous and essential security personnel. Under protection of the snipers, mercenaries should slaughter as many guards as possible, and then simulate a positional stalemate. This will give us enough time to arrive and extract Lachanan. But before we arrive, the netrunners should unleash a couple of non-lethal demons on her while attacking Darra's men.

This will give us a chance to neutralize Lahanan and prevent her from providing protection to Darra's representative. We must also capture her personal assistant, who will also be incapacitated by the netrunners halfway to the Aerodyne. There he will be put into an induced coma thanks to Lile, who will be given the necessary instructions by the dispatcher. On arrival at the hospital, we will hand him over for interrogation by specialists, who will later get rid of him, while for the rest of people he will be just another victim of an netrunner attack.

After our withdrawal, the mercenaries and snipers must kill the remaining Darra's men as quickly as possible. And most importantly, the representative must die, it must be done at all costs, even if it is necessary to use heavy rocket launchers within the city limits. Although after that, all the police officers of Night City will be looking for mercenaries.

At the same time, the snipers must eliminate some of the mercenaries, who were recruited just for the sake of distraction. The remaining mercenaries will have to retreat and get lost in the city in small groups. Then they must be picked up either by Trauma Team Aerodynes or vehicles with Nomad symbols. If caught, they must remain silent until they are released by lawyers or eliminated by netrunners. This is the harsh reality of the fight for power, no one must find out who is behind all of this.

And so D-Day came. I was preparing for things not to go according to plan, but finally we were given an urgent request for evacuation. The pilots even had to activate the boosters, apparently they realized exactly who we were trying to rescue. It took almost two minutes and 49 seconds to get us there. Almost a record. Okay, now it's time for the "rescue".

We landed 25 meters away from the Lachanan's location. The pilots decided not to take any chances because of the very intense firefight. So we had to shoot a little on the way to Lachanan. We finally got to her and Lyle started stabilizing her and getting her ready to evac. Though netrunners may have pushed a little too hard, as the spasms caused by demons were too strong to keep her stable on the stretcher. We had to administer a powerful tranquilizer. Finally client got fixed to a stretcher and ready to be transported.

Robert and Lyle carried her, while Daru handled her personal assistant. And I kept an eye on the situation as we moved toward Aerodyne. Halfway through, as planned, the netrunners attacked her personal assistant and Daru had to carry him. Phew, it seemed like everything went according the plan. Now the only thing left to do is to get the hell out of here

But then, out of the blue, some borg with a man dressed in a classic suit came running towards us. Who the hell is this?

"You must evacuate him, too. Lahanan gave assurances of his safety." - The Borg's synthetic voice carried a do as I say or I'll bash your head threat.

"You don't have a silver, gold, or platinum customer package. We can't help you." - I gave them a formal reply while still aiming at them.

"Bullshit. Lahanan guaranteed us protection." - The guy in the suit yelled loudly.

"I checked the Trauma Team customer database. Your IDs aren't there." - Fuck, where the fuck is that fucking sniper. I called him in through the encrypted channel and marked the man in the suit as a priority target.

And then the guy in the suit was abruptly spun in place and knocked to the ground. Holy shit. Fucking useless sniper. Couldn't shoot him in the head right away. Though judging by the wound, guy in suit will die anyway. Bullet hit him in the chest, then got to his guts, tearing everything in its way.

A furious Borg grabbed the half-dead guy and tried to make his way to the aerodyne, but a short burst in front of his feet stopped him a meter away from me.

"No insurance no service! Get the fuck out of my sight! Or I'll shoot you and your buddy for preventing me from saving a TT client!" - I said with a clear threat in my voice.

Apparently the Borg didn't like my answer very much, and decided to break through to the aerodyne at any cost. Even if he had to kill everyone in his way. There was a mantis blade hidden in his hand, and he tried to stab me right in the heart.

I activated all my implants, because distance, and the borg's strength, gave me little choice. Borg probably wasn't expecting me to react so fast, so he didn't have time to act when I knocked away his mantis blade with a kick of my foot. Wasting no time, I pressed my machine gun to his head and emptied my entire magazine.

Borg fell to his knees first, still holding the dying Darra representative in one hand. Shit apparently that bastard is still alive. I must finish him off. Can't leave enemies like this behind my back. If I remember correctly, borg must have a biopod that allows borg to survive even after their main body has been torn to shreds. The important thing is that the biopod must be intact and last until help comes. I don't have time to search, so I'll have to resort to rougher methods.

I simply lobbed EMP grenades at the bastard and ran before they activated. Once inside, I ordered the pilots to move towards the TT hospital before anything else went wrong. When our aerodyne was in the air I transmitted an order to the mercenaries via an encrypted channel for a complete sweep. The mercenaries, who were waiting for the order, went on the offensive and slaughtered all the enemies. Then they were given the order to retreat. Thankfully the whole thing took less than 10 minutes and they had a chance to get out before the police blocked the whole area.

And I looked at Lahanan, practically a walking dead man, only unaware due to drug-induced comatose. Well, bitch, game over. Here comes your downfall.
