The First Martial arts

Kuro wakes up and goes to get some food when he sees a Bull and a Wolf fighting. The notion that a Bull is fighting a wolf astounds him. The wolf leaps at the bull, who dodges and charges right into the tree, killing the wolf due to the tree's hardness, which breaks the wolf's ribs and causes death. Kuro is startled that the bull killed the wolf. He has the idea that if he copies the bull's moves, he can become powerful.

The first instruction he had was in replicating the bull's movements; after two months, he was able to use the bull's footwork. The second training he received was in the hardness of the bull; he witnessed a wolf scratching a bull's skin and not being wounded. So he gets into position and charges at the tree, and Kuro gets hurt, but that doesn't stop him, so he gets up and tries again. Three weeks pass, and Kuro's both shoulders are full red from the training he received, but that doesn't stop him, so three months pass, and the tree no longer hurts him, and one year passes, and he can crush a tree, but that isn't enough So the third training he took was strengthening his foot. He saw a rabbit running from a wolf, and the wolf couldn't catch up to the rabbit, so he copied the rabbit jumping position. After a month, he can now use the rabbit footwork, but he has a feeling this isn't enough, so another year passes and he masters the rabbit footwork at a new level, allowing him to use the rabbit footwork to run fast. But because the bull and the rabbit can't match, he mixed them for two years and then came up with a name for it. He doesn't know any letters, but he does know numbers, so he calls it one. Kuro's arms are weak, so he travels through the woods looking for something, but he doesn't find anything. As he was about to give up, he observed a lion stalking a bull. The lion strikes at the bull and the bull is driven back. The lion bites the bull's neck and dies. Kuro is horrified that the hard bull has died. Kuro begins his fourth training session.

Kuro hits the tree, injuring himself, but knowing that won't stop him, he continues punching till his wrist dislocates. He yells and shouts till he drags himself to his feet and the bones are replaced. After that, he hurries to the cave and takes a rope and a stick, which he uses to place the stick in the side of his wrist and tie the rope tightly, then he gets some food and sleeps for sixteen weeks. Kuro returns to training two months later and can now punch a tree and create a dent in it. After combining the lion's punch and the one, he returns to the village that kicked him out in search of words and encounters an elderly gentleman who asks, "Who are you and where did you come from?" Kuro replies, "I live in the woods." The elderly gentleman is taken aback that he can survive in the woods where no one has ever lived. When the elderly guy asks, "How old are you?" Kuro responds, "17 years." The old man then asks, "How long have you lived there?" Kuro responds, "9 years. The old guy is pitying Kuro because no one ever raised him. The elderly man adds, "How about you live here with me?" Kuro answers yes, and the old man responds, "My name is Katagawa."
