Spellcasting

One month later

At this time, on the training grounds of the village, a black-haired young man stood with right palm forward and his knees slightly bent. In front of him is a wooden dummy.

"Come forth, spirits of the wind" Rick said as he cast a spell according to a magic formula

"Wind Gust!"

Suddenly, a gust of wind was generated from his right arm and was launched towards the wooden dummy. However, the dummy only lightly shook.

"Sigh. It's too weak" Rick said.

"Hey, hey. Why are you complaining when your first time casting a spell is a success?" Carla exclaimed as she lightly slapped his back.

"I wasn't actually disappointed. I just said so to make it seem as if I'm a genius who had high standards" Rick chuckled.

"Tch, there you go again" Carla muttered with an annoyed expression.

"For your first time, not bad" a red haired woman with white dress said with a smile but deep inside, she was actually taken aback.

'I never expected him to actually succeed on his first try. He's indeed a genius but I can't praise him too much' the red haired woman thought to himself.

"You're so amazing, Rick. Meanwhile, I couldn't even cast a spell.." Leon said with a low voice but enough for Carla and Rick to hear it.

"It's fine dude. Don't worry about it. Just do things at your own pace. It's just that I'm different since I'm a genius. You'll only lose confidence in yourself if you compare yourselves to others" Rick shamelessly replied.

'Damn. After so many years of acting like a kid, it's already grown on me' Rick inwardly complained.

Rick was actually a reincarnator from earth. From his previous life, he was named Philip but for some reason, he died. He knew that he was 16 years old when he died but he didn't even know how. When it comes to memories about his personal life, they were rather blurry and confusing.

However, when it comes to memories about knowledge about his previous world, although he didn't remember them all, they were clear as it had always been from his previous world.

"Anyway master Narlie, where did I go wrong?" Carla asked as she turned her gaze towards the red haired woman.

"Don't call me Master, just teacher. Your accent was alright but your magic formula was a bit off. Try again" Narlie replied and handed over a book to Carla.

She then reviewed the magic formula according to the spell book and noticed her mistake. She then gave it back to Narlie and raised her right palm forward and slightly bent her knees.

"Oh spirits of the water, assist me" Carla said with a solemn tone as she cast a spell.

"Water Blast!"

Suddenly, a weak blast of water was generated from her right palm and shoot towards the wooden dummy. The wooden dummy was only drenched in water and didn't even shake.

"I did it!" Carla said with enthusiasm as she flashed out a wide smile.

"You did well, Carla" Narlie said as she gently patted the back of her head.

'Sigh. Geniuses sure have it easy' Narlie thought to herself as she looked at Rick and Carla. Afterwards, she turned her gaze towards Leon who was still trying to memorize the magic formula.

'This one is blessed with an affinity for a supreme element but his fire element affinity is rather poor, making him seem mediocre compared to the other two when in fact, he's just as much of a genius as them' Narlie thought to herself.

'When he starts learning Life spells, that will be the time where he'll truly shine' Narlie inwardly said.

The three continued for a while to increase their spellcasting proficiency. After they came out of the training grounds, Rick and Carla were already able to cast their spell with a bit more proficiency while Leon was barely even able to cast his first spell.

The next time he cast his spell after his first successful spellcasting, he failed. However, he tried and tried again until he was able to barely get the hang of it.

...

After four months of training, Rick and Carla learned three spells while Leon only learned two spells, and he was only barely able to cast the other his new spell.

They familiarize themselves with spellcasting basic elements and proceed with advanced and supreme magic only when their spellcasting proficiency is enough.

After Wind Gust, Rick learned Wind Slash and Wind Vortex while Carla learned Water Blades and Whirlpool. The spells they learned were rather similar in effect with the only difference being the element. As for Leon, he learned Fireball and Embers.

These spells are considered as Beginner rank spells based on their element. In addition, based on their proficiency, the spells they cast were considered as level one spells since they're still beginners. But with more training, these spells will turn into higher level spells based on their proficiency.

Naturally, the higher level version of these spells are just the more mana input as well as better proficiency.

There are Four spell ranks, namely, Beginner, Intermediate, Elite, and lastly, Saint rank spells. As for levels, there are also four, which are just based on numbers.

At this time, on the training grounds, Rick, Carla and Leon are standing beside each other while in front of them is their teacher, Narlie.

Narlie folded her arms and said "You three are now able to cast level 1 spells with ease. However, let me show you something amazing"

She then turned towards the wooden dummy and raised her right palm forward and channeled water element mana in her palm.

"Water Blades!"

Suddenly, Shearing blades made of water were conjured from her palm and shot towards the target, cutting it into pieces.

"You didn't say the incantations!" Rick exclaimed as he looked at Narlie with the corners of his eyes widened in amazement.

"And here I thought that casting magic was inconvenient and takes too much time for combat" Carla said as the corners of her lips curled upwards.

"How do we do it, teacher Narlie?" Leon asked without stuttering. After four months of studying magic under Narlie, he was finally able to talk with confidence.

"You must have heard of Sealing Magic, right?" Narlie asked as she eyed her students.
