Just a few Myths

We live in a world different from yours. A world where there are huge, dangerous monsters. Great, winged ones, that protect the skies above. Shining, underwater ones, that sweep the sapphire seas beneath us. And many other mysterious ones, that even we have not studied. These wild beasts are our friends though. It's easy to understand them- if you are good to them, they'll be good to you in return. Long ago, a war between mankind and monsters broke out, killing millions. But thankfully, our ancestors stopped the war, and we now live in peace.

My name is Rose Ferncil, I'm the daughter of Valencia and Theodore Ferncil. We live in Aquarius- a cozy but big island surrounded by what we called the Bustling waterfall, but you'll probably know it as the Bermuda Triangle. There are mysteries in our world too. Ancient scandals and stories our ancestors left behind, but not in full. It is said that after the Great War ended, a boy, whose whole family was murdered by the monsters, swore to revenge them, and start the war again. The boy disappeared after that, and nobody heard of him again. But of course, it is just a myth.

"Rose Theodore Ferncil. You've had enough time. Dinner is getting cold. Come down now!" My mother shouts from the stairs. Sighing, I close my book, and trace my fingers over the dragon on the cover. The Nightseeker. A magnificent beast, but also one of my ancestor's mysteries. The legend says that the Nightseeker is the leader of all the other monsters, and protects us all, but can be deadly when angered. It's wings are ready, but it seems trapped. Like it wants to fly, but it can't. put the book on the table, and run down the stairs, two steps at a time.

"Radmane... It's time." A hoarse voice said from the shadows. "I've waited for so long. My skin has withered, I've lost so much. Just for this grand finale." "But master! Frenade has not given us the command. We can't start the mission!" A deeper voice said. "I'm afraid Frenade has now chosen the opponent's side over ours. I can feel it. I hear guilt in his voice every time he talks. Start the mission. And that is an order." "Yes master." The voice replied, not as excited as the other.

About 200 miles from this dark cave, two dragons were play-fighting with each other. Though they were fully grown adults, they had never gotten rid of their childish habits. Soon, tiredly, they both lied down on their backs, looking up at the sun. "I'm glad you came to our side Frenade. Finally, you can see sense." One of the dragons said jokingly. The other giggled, "I'm glad I saw sense too Thesilius." The other one, Frenade, said, rubbing his golden scales on the warm mud. "I've never liked Radmane and his crew. Always thought they were weird. Do you know what they were planning to do?" Thesilius asked. "They were going to find and tame the Nightseeker." Frenade replied, his eyes darkening. "Impossible!" Thesilius said. "Theodore won't let that happen. Will he?" "All I know, is that if they succeed, they just might start the great war all over again.
