Beacon of Hope

The room is dark, and it is hard to believe that the contraption sitting in the middle of it can bring down this entire building. The door is locked behind me, and my breath is fast. I slowly walk, counting my footsteps until I reach the bomb. It is in the shape of a box. It has tangle wires all around it, and a blank screen on the top. On the left side, there is a red button, and I know that is what switches on that bomb. I take a deep breath, feeling my heart pound my chest, and push the button. Immediately, the screen switches on and the countdown starts. In two minutes, this operation will end.

I turn and run to the door, trying to unlock it, but it's stuck! If that is even possible, my breathing gets faster. Only two minutes! Frantically I bang the door, shouting for help. But I know it won't help. The door is locked from the inside, and I only have one and a half minutes left. I take deep breaths to steady myself. But another worry swims through my mind. What if mom and dad didn't get out safely? I realize the truth. If I stay here any longer, I could die because of the bomb! My head starts spinning, I don't know what is happening, I black out.

~-----~

It is dark. I can't feel any part of my body, and I feel like I am floating. I have been in this never ending pile of darkness for days, I think. Here it feels like what happened in the past, or what will happen in the future doesn't matter. Just the present. Now and then, I hear voices calling out to me. Like a beacon of hope or light. And I feel myself pulled back to reality. Its not dark anymore.

~-----~

"Rose!" I hear many voices calling out to me when I wake up. Most of them are achingly familiar. "Mom? Dad?" I ask. My mother and father hug me. "What happened?! The bomb!" I ask, painstakingly remembering everything that happened before. "Don't worry." My father says soothingly. "We got out, but realized you were not there. When you had not arrived even after the bomb burst, we called the Emergency Line of Helpers to get you out of the building. It was in crumbles by then, and we are very glad to have got you out."

I just realized where I am. I am on a bed, and next to me is a table with stacked up magazines and books, a lamp, and a few vials. "You've been in this hospital, asleep, for four days. The healers were worried you might not wake up." My mother says, her eyes tired. Four days! That's a lot. I don't want to know how I survived. I don't exactly want to doubt it. Nevertheless, I can't wait for my next dangerous and risky adventure! And just maybe, I might find the Nightseeker! Whatever I find, whatever happens, I know I'll go above and beyond the limit.

~~~THE END~~~
