When the news that the protectors were venturing out broke, courtesy of me, it was a shock to everyone including most of the members. My friends were among those who were in the dark about the entire situation so when Ruth announced herself at the door I expected to meet faces fallen with betrayal and disbelief. Instead I was greeted by blinding smiles and packed suitcases.
I had not even finished with my packing because I had been forced to talk my siblings out of coming with us. I had basically just listened to my parent's rave before agreeing with whatever it is that they had talked about. I had not heard a word of what was said and did not care enough to participate in teaching others how to live their lives. I may have been an adult but my siblings were merely teenagers and in the end their youth worked against them.
