Chapter 4

“Do you mind if Isabella comes with us?" I asked Alexander. He looks to Bella, who is smiling at him. He froze and his breath stopped as he stared at her fangs. "V-vam-" He stuttered and Bella said, " It's ok, it's ok, I can go with Delilah."

My brows furrow in confusion because not only does she hate Lilah as far as I have have seen, she doesn’t seem to be picking the easier option.

"Are you sure?" I asked. "She wouldn't kill me because you trust me... at least I hope she won't. " She whispered the last part to herself.

"Ok then, Lilah if there is a scratch on her you lose chocolate cake privileges." I warned. "That's not fair!" she whined, stomping her foot like an angry toddler. "What if it's self defence?" she argued, crossing her arms. "Then Bella won't get cake, simple" I shrugged. "Fine let's get this over with." She said walking over to my motorcycle with Bella following right behind her.

"See you there," Lilah said and rode off, with Bella clinging to her for dear life.

"Are you ready?" I asked Alexander. "Yes," he whispered. "Which car is yours" I asked looking around. "Look to the third car on the left" he said. I looked in the direction he said.

The car is a silver Lexus. The seats are leather and the inside is really clean. As I walked over to it, I asked " Where are the keys?" I asked. He tried to reach into his pocket to get it but winced at his injury. "Ok I'll get it but I have to put you down" I explain. "Ok" Alex said.

I put him down gently, leaning him against the car door so that I don't hurt him. He clutched my jacket as he struggles to stand up. "My legs hurt," he whimpered.

When I see those pricks who did this to him, I'm going to make sure that they never lay hand on him again.

"Just let me get the keys and then we can leave" I encourage him. "Hurry." He pleas, his hands shaking in pain. I reached carefully inside of his jacket pocket, wary of his ribs.

"Got them" I pressed the unlocked button and open the car. "Are you ok, did I hurt you" I asked." No, I'm fine" He reassured me. "Lift please?" Alex asked hopefully. "Sure" I replied. I picked him up and walked to the passengers' seat. He snuggled into my chest.

Why is he so cute?

I opened his car door and put him in the passenger seat and buckled him up. "Thank you." he said. " For what?" I asked. "For helping me." he explained smiling at me briefly and I return it.

"Can I ask why did they do that you?" I asked putting my seatbelt on. " I- umm don't really know. Something about my existence being a bother to them." he said.

I gripped the wheel tighter in my hands. 'Those pricks are more than just bullies' I said to myself. "How long has that been happening" I asked trying to keep my tone soft. " A couple months" he said. "Don't lie. How long has it been happening" I take a deep breath to keep calm. " One year," he whispered. " Did you tell anyone?" I question. "They told me not to" he whispered, tears welling in his eyes.

"Do you have any friends or family members to help you?" Curiosity in my voice. " Yes but they go to a different school to avoid situations like mine," he explained. That's not right, there is no one to help him.

Biting the inside of my cheek, I make a decision

"I'll protect you."

. "I don't want to be a burden" He says softly, playing with his fingers ."You are most certainly not a burden, don't ever say that again" I demanded. "Sorry." He apologised. "You have nothing to apologise for" I stated. " I made you angry." he said. My face softened and my body relaxed.

"I'm not angry, I'm worried that this will continue happening to you without someone there to help you. That's why I want to protect you but only if you let me. I promise, no one will harm you again" I told him. I drive up my street. "But I don't want to be a bur-" I cut him off. " You won't" I said sternly. "Okay," he accepted.

"Good now let's go." I walk around to help him out. I close the car and picked him up. "Why do you put so much trust in me?" I asked.

The question has been lingering in my mind for a while now and I am dying to know the answer. No sane person would go to a stranger’s house or let them in their car.

Isn’t he scared that I’m a murderer or something?

"You make me feel safe, like you would never hurt me. The thought of rejecting you physically hurts" he explained. Wow, didn't expect that. I looked into his eyes and I felt the warmth and honesty in them. Something tells me there's a lot more to him.

"Ok I believe you." I said. I used my foot to bang on the door. Alexander jumped slightly at that. I look down and whispered a small "Sorry" at him. I looked up when Lilah opened the door.

"Finally, geez you left me alone with her, then have the audacity to drive slowly," she scowled.

"Shut up and let them in!" Bella yelled. "Don't tell me what to do you MOSQUITO!" She yelled back. Alexander whimpered at all the yelling they're doing.

"Both of youshut up" I demanded as I pushed pass Lilah.

"Is he ok?" Bella asked. "He will be fine but I don't recommend going to school for a couple days" I said putting him on the couch.

My mind wonders away for a few seconds and then something hits me.

"When we tell you to do something, you do it, stupid Warlock!" Chad said.

"Why did Chad call you, 'Warlock'?" I ask them. Bella and Lilah's eyes look anywhere but at me.

I look at Alexander.

He didn't answer me, instead he looked at Bella and Lilah for help but they just seal their lips, awkwardly shifting on their feet. "Don't look at them, look at me," I demanded. He turned to look at me.

"I won't get mad or anything" I promised, not really understanding the secrecy all of a sudden. He hesitated, his mouth opening then closing again. "I-I'm, w-we're..." he stutters.

Suddenly, the bell rang and he sighed in relief. "Pizza's here" Lilah said. "COMING!" She yelled as she ran to the door. I looked to Alex who is admiring my living room.

The room is huge with two chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. A 'C' shaped couch that can hold 12 people among several additional sofas and single chairs. The TV is big flat screen that is attached to the wall. The coffee table is a big glass table in the middle between the TV and the couch middle.

There is a staircase that leads to the bedrooms. There are 9 rooms in this house. 5 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, one living room and a huge dining area that we only use when people come over or on Christmas. Those are the rooms people would know about. There are a few secret doors around here too.

"This is a nice room, very nice" Bella complemented. "I agree," Alex comments his eyes glued to the ceiling. "Thanks," I replied, nodding my head. Lilah walk in and announced, "I got pepperoni, meat feast and cheese pizza".

"Meat feast?!" Bella ran to get a slice. "Omg, omg!" she eats it quickly, literally inhaling it. " I haven't had pizza in forever" she said stuffing her mouth with more pizza. "Slow down and save some for the rest of us," Delilah scolded. "Shut up, forever is a long time you know!"she said, her cheeks stuffed like a chipmunk.

I chuckled at that. I look to see Alex looking at the pizza. " Do you want a slice?" I asked."Yes please" he said. " Which one?" I asked point to the boxes that Lilah set down on the coffee table. "Pepperoni" he said, smacking his lips slightly. " Ok, coming right up" I said going into the box to get a slice and gave it to him on a plate that the girls must have set out before I came. "Thank you" he said while eating it. He was moving his arms just fine now. " I guess you're not in pain anymore?" I asked. He stopped eating. "Pain meds" he said.

That was only half the truth, so I'm letting him finish his pizza before asking again. "Does anyone want to watch Netflix?" I asked. "I do" Bella and Lilah said at the same time. They turn to each other and giggled. It's good they're warming up to each other. Just really slowly.

I turned on the TV and we started watching "The Originals". "It's illegal to look that hot being angry" Bella said when Klaus bites some guy called 'Terry'. "Preach" Lilah agreed, her mouth full of cheese pizza.

"I hope you don't think I'm going to let you dodge the question" I said still watching the TV. The room went silent, the only sound is coming from the TV. "I'm waiting, don't all speak at once" I said turning to look at them, raising a brow expectantly. "It's just a silly name that they called him Nate, it doesn't matter,” Lilah said dismissively, looking at me for a split second.

I looked into her eyes and for the first time I didn't like what I saw.

"I can't believe it. You just lied to my face Lilah." I said in a stern disappointed voice, my face in one of shock and disbelief.
