THIRTY NINE: DOUBTS AND SIGNS V

[SHAIRA's POINT OF VIEW]

I swear I can hear them. I just can't utter a word. It's just that I'm dying in pain and sweating cold.

'It's not yet the time to insist on going out in my womb, sweetie. Please, calm down, my angel,' says a voice inside my head.

Shortly after, a taxi stopped, and the taxi driver helped the lady carry me to the passenger's seat. Fortunately, the pain subsided as we passed several buildings and cars. When we got to the nearest hospital, a doctor accommodated me.

We all turned our heads to the door as a man gasping for air appeared. He was in a total mess. It is evident just by looking at his messed-up hair and exhausted face.

"What happened?" he asked and embraced me.

"Why are you here?"

"Why are you asking me that question? Isn't it obvious that I'm scared to death upon hearing you were sent to the hospital?" he replied.

"I'm fine now. Just go back to your office, but do explain..." I replied, glancing at the lady standing next to my son.
