Solo the Dungeon Boss

Alice had already informed students with cluster chain communication. When they encountered elite monsters, all students arranged themselves accordingly around all vicious lizards. All second group students form their own teams and walk together in forward direction. Beryl and students from different classes were following them while occasionally throwing attacks from behind.

"…Split up!"

All students of Class A suddenly split from the middle and moves toward the opposite direction, creating a huge space between them and circles around vicious lizards from two different directions.

Beryl signaled all students with him to stop and looked at Class A with a frown. He doesn't understand what they are planning by ignoring him completely but his doubts were cleared when he saw three vicious lizard of E Rank charging toward them.

"…They are using us to deal with monsters!"

Beryl and his group backed-off and tried to get rid of attention from lizards but it seems futile effort. Beryl grits his teeth in frustration. It seems a tanker of the class A had used some skill that leads the monsters to them and it unlikely he will be able to get them in this mess.

Beryl asked students to circle around the vicious lizard. It might be a whole rank higher than them but it is 10:1. It might be hard but it will be them who will win. Once he won, it will be unlikely for Class A to be in any good shape. He will plenty of time to screw them up.

Beryl was not too worried about Class test. The moment they ambushed Class A, Class A was bound to fail but Beryl didn't come here for it. He has deliberately come here all for the sake of his revenge. Last time, it was class A that used his class as the step-stone. This time, it will be their class that will become step-stone for every other class.

In his revenge-filled mindset, he didn't notice that there was a certain popular student who was missing. If he had noticed, he wouldn't slack off like this…

In the area filled with denser purple mist, a shadow rose from the ground and materialized into a black hair figure. His deep black eyes deeply resonated with darkness of the shadow. Adam looked around and took a step forward but suddenly changed into the shadow and move away.

A tail swept over the area where he was standing and slams down over the ground sending crack all over the area while creating a crater. A head popped out of mist and roared with a five meter open-mouth. Its roar was strong enough to push all the mist 100ft away. A five-meter tall and reptilian figure with tetrapod legs became visible. It was looking around for the annoying presence with its reptilian gaze.

Adam looked at the scene with hardened eyes. One attack is all what is needed to end his life! He might have bit too much today. He sighed and looked at the system screen with hopeful gaze.

[Rank-up Quest]

[Quest:- Kill the Dungeon Boss alone.]

[Reward:- Rank-up to F Rank.]

There is a caught in the quest. It is saying to kill the dungeon monster alone but if he took help of other students, he will fail the quest. Adam doesn't want to give up on the quest no matter what happens! He doesn't even know when the rank-up quest will show his head next time again…

Yet, it doesn't mean that this quest is an easy tale. First, the dungeon boss, itself, is E+ Rank, something totally out of his league. He doesn't even want to confirm if his AOE spells will work or not. Second is time limit. He had promised Alice to fight the dungeon boss until they take care of elite monsters behind.

Once they had taken care of elite monsters, she will lead all students into this dense mist of lair of dungeon boss which will result in failure of his quest. He only had limited time to take care of it. He took a cure potion that deal with de-buffs of the purple mist for an hour and prepare himself for the upcoming battles.

Adam turned into shadow and moved to his side and charged his fist. Boss Lizard noticed his annoying presence and turned around to crush him under his leg but Adam just move with swift movement to dodge its foot and slammed his fist in the abdomen.

Boss Lizard groaned and a burned bruise formed over the spot where Adam had punched. Lizard swept his tail to his side which Adam dodged by turning into shadow. He is really grateful that shadow is dense enough to create shadow of its own or else he wouldn't have any way to dodge its attacks.

Boss Lizard suddenly opens its mouth and huge wave of dark purple mist release from its mouth in the direction of Adam. Adam looked at it with a shock but hurriedly creates more distance to dodge its attack. Normally, E-Rank monsters don't have long-range attacks yet the monster in front of him have it. It also shortened his already limited options.

Adam circles around it few times and again moved to same spot where he had hit it with fire fist. His hand crackles with lightning and it covers his hand like a blade. Adam thrust his hand on the bruise with all his strength and it went inside. Adam finally found his hope for win. Lizard noticed the attack and moves his rear body to other side but Adam thrust his hand further inside the wound and follows it creating a long wound to its side.

Adam turned into shadow and moved away. His face lost its excitement as the result was not as expected. He was hoping to create deeper wound. He turned into shadow and circles around it again to confuse the boss lizard. The boss monster opens its mouth to release the wave of purple mist but instead of dodge Adam release Fire Waves right away in response.

Its wave was unable to overwhelm the Fire Waves and stay stuck in its mouth while fire wave make its way to the open mouth and cause explosion inside it. Boss Lizard's head was soon covered in black smoke and Adam took this chance to move to the opposite of the wounded side and push the palm over the side of its body.

[Fire Waves]

Fire Waves release and engulf its whole body in clouds of explosion. Adam looked at it and creates the distance. Dark clouds cover the sky yet it was invisible to anyone due to dense mist. Several bolts of lightning fell on the Lizard and explode with destructive lightning. Boss Lizard roared and starts throwing his limbs and tails around in tantrum.

Adam was hoping to do more damage and expecting more pain endurance but it seems it had reached its limit. Now, it will take him seriously and try to kill him with everything. Boss Lizard looked at his direction and charges forward. Adam looked at it waited for it to come close. He turned into right in front of him and moves below it.

Adam turned around and release a fire wave right off the bat. Fire Wave covered the lizard in explosions. He took his time to blast its head with storm explosion but it didn't do much damage besides peeling some scales off. Adam felt slightly bitter over it. His Storm Explosion is his pride. He always uses it to finish the game yet here it is only scratching its skin.

Adam rained another barrage of lightning bolts over it which covers it in explosion of silver lightning. Adam release another five waves that covered in explosions of orange flames. Adam kept circling around while utilizing his spells. His Dark AOE spell is useless as stopping at it feet won't do any good in his situation.

Adam release two more continuous attacks of Storm Explosion and Fire Waves and went closer to its wounded side. He punched forward while putting his back into it on its wound. Several scale peeled off and red slimy skin become visible behind it. Adam didn't want to give up so he hurried cast another spells.

[Dark Ground]

Lizard felt its side burning and tried to chomp off the head of the creature attack it but it stopped right in front of him with open mouth. It was less than a meter away from his head but Adam didn't relax and his hands crackled with lightning. He stabs the skin with his lightning blade and pushed it deeper inside the skin. He pulled his body along with his hand and open up a deep wound.

Boss Lizard tremble in pain and struggle violently to get rid of restriction on its movement. It freed away in less than three second yet it was enough for Adam put his both hand on the long open wound and release a Fire Waves.

"...I got you, you fucking lizard!"

Boom.

Boss Lizard was planning to crush the creature with its tail yet it was unable to as it was blasted off to its side from explosion. His inside felt burned and melted as explosion kept occurring inside its large cylindrical body. It was lying over its side while deep wounded side facing towards the sky. Adam hurriedly cast his lightning AOE spell in hopes of ending it.

Storm Explosion.

Several bolts of lightning fells from sky all over the body and fortunately two of lightning bolts struck the wound and explode. Sliver lightning bolts make its way to its inside and wreak havoc inside it. It finally stopped moving and light on its eyes starting to dim down. Adam finally lost his balance and lethargic felling takes over his body. He took potions for recovery through system and lies down over the ground.

[Quest Complete]

Adam removed all the interfaces as he doesn't want to accept the reward now. He will accept it later when he is alone in his room.

After few minutes, Alice and other students of the class finally made their way and froze at the spot. They spotted the corpse of the dungeon boss yet their eyes unable to believe what they were seeing. A student finally moves and looked for the one responsible for this reaction. He went ahead to confirm with him.

He looked down at the sleeping figure, treating the dungeon as his home, he had sudden urge to stomp at his face. Even he is not daring enough to sleep so openly inside a dungeon, yet here is doing the same thing care freely. Adam felt the shade over him and slowly open his eyes. He instantly woke up. He sat cross-legged in a style and gave a side profile while resting his elbow over his thigh.

"…Is there anything you need?"

Leon being a distant creature from the human world didn't understand his action so he went ahead and asked him what he wants.

"…Did you kill the dungeon boss alone?"

"…No, it took help from the fellow lizards…"

"Hah…?"

"Of course I did. Do you see anyone else here?"

Leon didn't say anything but stare at him intensely. Adam remembered his last talk with Ethan who warned him about Leon and told him to be careful.

…

"…Is he holding grudge over the past loss?"

"…No, but it might be worse than that…"

"…You think he will try something during test?"

"…Yeah, if possible, don't hesitate to scream to Lucas for help I bet he will after knowing the circumstance…"

Ethan look strangely nervous yet determined as if he was willing to protect him yet he was too scared to help him.

…

"Good."

Adam looked at Leon, waiting to continue but Leon just complimented him and left. Adam looked at him weirdly, maybe Ethan might have misunderstood him.

Adam made his way to Lucas who looked at him with a sneering gaze. Both of them did a quick fist bump and grab each other hands.

"…You still alive?"

"Never feel better than today… I feel like I can fight few more E-Rank monsters again."

"Stop bluffing! You seem like you will die with a wind."

"Hee…"

"…Uhm… Uhm…"

Adam turned around as he heard someone trying to get his attention. His expression instantly brightened when he saw the face of the person.

"…How can I help you, my dear Lily?"

"…Uhm… Uhm… Are you fine?"

After great struggle, she finally asked it. Adam smiled and try to tell her he was fine but his eyes instantly shine with red beam and he staggered to Lucas' side and then to Lily's side who caught him in pain with her bosom. Lucas was surprised and backed-off while swinging his hands around like a swimmer. He was planning to give Adam space to fall but that guy went ahead fall toward her! Damn it! He also wanted to fall over a girl's chest!!

Lucas looked at Adam, who was clinging to Lily's chest with resentment and noticed a weird glint in his eyes. This guy! He was pretending! What a terrifying motherfucker!!
