Under Fire

Waylen, Simpson and Ferdinand sluggishly marched towards the resource's location. They marched slowly as their commander which was Ferdinand, was about to fall asleep on the way. They sauntered and strode until they have reach the resource point. The resource point was when they arrived was filled with various ores. The only thing they have to wait for is for Ferdinand to harvest the resources inside his 10 meter spatial inventory. Ferdinand sluggishly trudged the distance between him and the ores. While his soldiers accompanied him from behind, they suddenly heard a sound of a twig being stepped on. Waylen, Simpson and Ferdinand then simultaneously looked at the area of interest.

What they saw baffled them. There were multiple walkers behind the bushes overlooking them, it's as if an eagle was spying on them. Ferdinand and his soldiers raised their knives, though Ferdinand did it sluggishly. Then a surprising turn of events unfolded. The walkers suddenly grew two horns at their shoulders. Sensing the impending doom, Ferdinand, albeit slowly, shouted.

"Take Cover!"

Following their commander's call, Waylen and Simpson both dashed sideways towards the nearest boulder and took cover there. While Ferdinand was able to take cover behind another boulder.

After dashing out from their original position, when they all looked back, they saw that their original position was pummeled by what seemed like rod-like structures with sharp edges. Cold sweat drips down from the forehead of Ferdinand. If they were even a second later, they would be minced meat right now.

Ferdinand then took a glance at the site where the walkers were, and he saw the walkers were preparing for another attempt as another horn was growing out of their shoulders. Then, at that moment, he realized a melee battle is going to be futile, as there were too many of these walkers. Then at that moment, he shouted to his soldiers, which are Waylen and Simpson.

"To arms, men! They attack using long range attacks! A melee battle is futile! Use your small arms and remember to conserve ammo!"

[DING!]

[REQUIREMENTS FOR DESTINY QUEST ACHIEVED!]

[SURVIVE THE ONSLAUGHT WITHOUT LOSING A SUBJECT!]

[REWARDS: UNKNOWN]

The moment Ferdinand received the destiny quest, cold sweat drips down from his back and chills ran through his spine. He was still dizzy as he was still exhausted from the fights earlier and yet he received another destiny quest, which means this will be a long hard fight that's going to change his future. He needs to not lose a subject, which means it will be a very serious one. Ferdinand staggered, attempting to summon his Mark-1 Bolt-Action-Rifle. He succeeded in summoning his small arms and so he immediately pointed at the walker, albeit with hazy eyes. He fired which a thunderous sound came, followed by an agonizing scream from the side of the walker.

He didn't succeed in shooting the vital spot of one of the walker, though that's still one walker off the charts that's about to attack. After firing, Ferdinand quickly hid behind the boulder. He glanced towards his men and saw that they have already fired their shots and have done the same as him.

"Don't risk your life! I have an indefinite amount of ammunition with my points! Let me protect you, my men, this time!"

"Understood commander!" Waylen and Simpson replied.

Soon after the exchange of words, an attack was launched by the walkers and narrowly destroyed both of their positions, so they had to dash into another cover. Ferdinand thought that the Bolt-Action Rifle currently doesn't fit on what he needs and so he hastily changed his small arms into an automatic rifle.

Ferdinand then brought up his automatic rifle and started blasting. One can only describe the scene that is happening is awe-striking, but that is far from what is really happening. Besides, Ferdinand's sleepiness is the decreased accuracy. So he wasn't hitting the vital spots of the walkers and only disabling them for a few seconds until the ammo runs out. Meanwhile, Simpson and Waylen took advantage of what was happening by getting closer to their commander, and firing off one shot with another shot.

With the amount of ammunitions fired, one might think that they must have killed a lot of walkers by now, but the truth is it says otherwise. There's not a single walker has fallen, it only stalled them for a few seconds. Meanwhile, crimson blood paints the entire opposite of the forest as the sun illuminates the surroundings.

As time goes by, Ferdinand's eyesight becomes more and more hazy and so he needed to use a much stronger weapon and so he checked his character overview for his points.

There were only a measly amount of 13500 points and so he must make do of it, but then he suddenly remembered that there was a stick hand grenade. So Ferdinand immediately bought 10 of them. Which costed him a staggering 4000 points. He quickly makes do with it as bright blue light appeared before him. He didn't have much time before the next attack and so he pulled it by twos and threw them at the walker at an interval. Deafening explosions soon followed.

Waylen, Simpson and Ferdinand all at the same time took cover behind the boulder before them so that they can escape the explosions...
