As for why even those as powerful as them would dare to take such a risk, the answer was simple. Cultivation, at its core, was the pursuit of strength. And as deplorable as it was, blood refinement cultivation offered one of the fastest paths to power. With its greatest weakness eliminated, it was inevitable that many would be tempted—whether they were struggling with weak talent and no foundation or were already fairly talented with sufficient backing.
The allure of strength was something most cultivators could not resist. Whether they admitted it or not, once they embarked on the path of cultivation and felt power coursing through their bodies, once they experienced the exhilaration of advancing realms and transcending limits, they became hooked. Strength might not have been the reason they first stepped through the door, but it almost always became the reason they kept walking.
