What Was That For?

Yennefer walked down the stairs, not failing to notice the judgmental eyes on her.

Things may not be as intense as they used to be, but regardless, she is still being heavily judged and hated on by almost everyone within the castle.

It doesn't really bother her, for unlike before, she is now allowed to walk around the castle without five to six guards following her around.

After what had happened at the banquet, the emperor had given her this bit of freedom out of gratitude, if that's what she would call it.

She shook her head and strolled out of the castle building.

She looked around and couldn't help but admire the beauty of the palace compound under the light of the stars and moon.

She walked further away towards the fountain, intending to sit and gaze at the blue sparkling water, but she was however surprised to see Yuri seated there.

She stared at him from a small distance, and finally, wanting to speak to him, a deep breath exited her nose and she strolled towards him.

"Hello." She spoke, and Yuri slowly turned his head to look at her with his emerald eyes.

"Hi…." He replied with a bit of confusion on his face, and Yennefer moved to take a seat on the stone beside him.

"Is…everything okay?" She asked, seeing the sad expression on his face, and Yuri kept gazing at her with furrowed brows.

"Yeah.....everything is okay. I just got rejected by the princess."

"I am not really mad, but I am, however, fearful of what my father might do." He chuckled. "I didn't want this marriage, either, because I don't like the princess, but... my father..."

He shook his head, knowing his father was not one to let go of such embarrassment.

"So... the marriage is called off?" Yennefer asked, and he slightly nodded his head at her.

"Yes, it is." A half-smile formed on his face, and he slowly turned his head to look at her.

"May I ask you something?" He inquired, and Yennefer nodded at him.

"Sure…go ahead."

"Do we... know each other?" He asked. "I feel like... I have met you somewhere before. I feel this sort of familiar feeling, and the way you were staring at me that day, it's as if you know me and you wanted to say something to me."

He explained with a curious expression on his face, and Yennefer gazed at him, not sure if he should tell him or not.

Telling him wouldn't change anything, would it?

Besides, what was she going to tell him? that he was her first kiss? Or that he was the one who sent her into this world? The one who changed her whole life?

She thought and shook her head, knowing that it was very ridiculous.

"Well… I guess we do. But let's not talk about it; after all, you don't even remember me." She smiled at him, and he scrunched his brow at her.

"What do you mean? If we did know each other, then please let me know. What is your name?" He inquired.

"Yennefer. My name is Yennefer Bellegard, and we were brief friends for a long time ago." She cackled softly, and Yuri slightly nodded his head.

"What a beautiful name you have. I am afraid I don't seem to recall such a name." He shook his head at her in disappointment, and Yennefer smiled softly.

"It's completely fi-," She instantly swallowed her words as she became aware of a presence behind her.

Her eyes flickered at how intimidating it was, and slowly, she turned her head to see Luthiel standing with a darkened expression on his face.

"Luthiel, what are you-"

"Get up." He said to her, and Yennefer and Yuri drew their heads back, perplexed.

"What do you mean by—"

She immediately went quiet when he stormed over to her and harshly gripped her by the arm.

He pulled her up from the stone and proceeded to drag her away, but Yuri, who couldn't understand why he was handling her in such a way, proceeded to speak, but a look of horror flashed in his eyes when Luthiel turned around, and with a force that appeared from nowhere, he sent Yuri flying into the water.

Anger glinted in his eyes, and without sparing Yennefer a glance, he dragged her into the castle building and up the stairs.

Yennefer's face grimaced in pain, and she struggled to free herself from his grip, but that was to no avail.

He pulled her up the stairs, and once he arrived in his chamber, he let go of her and shut the door behind them.

"What was that for, Luthiel? Why did you grab me like-"

A deep yelp fled her mouth when she felt her body grabbed and slammed onto the wall.

Her heart dropped to her stomach, and she slowly raised her head to look at Luthiel, who was staring at her with a deadly glint in his eyes.

"Luthiel....." She called his name in a soft voice, now actually scared by his death stare, and Luthiel breathed heavily as he gazed down at her.

"Do you know him?" He suddenly asked, and confused, Yennefer fluttered her lashes at him.

"Luthiel, what is going on with you...? It doesn't have anything to do with-"

"I am just going to let you know right now, so you don't get me enraged next time."

He immediately cut her off in anger, and Yennefer arched her brow, waiting for him to say something.
