Chapter 12: "Misunderstanding"

The next day. Jester groomed himself. 

After he got dressed up. He received a message from Gabi.

"Hi! Jester... It's me Gabi! Just want to remind you about our karaoke... The place will be meeting is at the park... At 11:00 in the morning..."

 "I forget to tell Laila about it..."

Then he received a message again. It was from Gabi.

"Don't tell Laila your coming with us... It's a secret ...shh... I wonder what would be her reaction when she see's you... Bye..."

"She sure is cheerful as always... But how did she know That I didn't tell Laila... Can she read minds... Oh well... She said 11 in the morning at the park..."

"I wonder how will Laila react when she see's me..."

So Jester went straight to the park. And he was greeted by Gabi.

"So you came... I'm so glad..."

"Thank you for bringing me with you..."

Jester look around the place and didn't see Laila.

" Are you looking for Laila she said she will be here soon... So don't be sad..."

Jester wasn't sad but a bit pissed off by the way Gabi say it. It was like she's talking to a baby about to cry.

"Oh! There she is.... Laila!"

Then Jester at the direction of where Laila was. And so her well groomed. She was wear a beautiful red dress. And a makeup on her face. Her hair was down and have some high heels on.

So beautiful. She's beautiful just the way she is. But now she's perfect.

"Jester? Is that you?"

"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you before hand..."

"Don't blame Jester... I'm the one that tell him not to tell you Laila..."

"Gabi? You know Jester?"

"Do you remember when he brings you your lunch... That's when I met your boyfriend..."

The people that were there heard it. So they gather around them to see.

"Laila... You have a boyfriend... Why didn't you tell us..."

As Gabi spoke for them.

"Yes... It's true... Laila has a boyfriend... And his name was Jester..."

"Hi! I'm Jester... It was pleasure to meet all of you..."

"Gabi!"

Laila was to bashful to answer to them. He didn't want Jester to misinterpret it.

"Gabi don't tell such a misleading words to them..."

"Why? Isn't that true?"

"Of course not! Jester isn't my boyfriend!"

The people around them stood silent. As the words echoed.

"We are not?"

Jester was disappointed by the words Laila says. And with that Laila became more blushful.

"That wasn't I mean..."

"It's fine Laila... You don't have to explain anything... Beside I'm the one that started a misunderstanding... I'm the one that told it... I'm sorry Laila..."

"Jester? You told that..."

"Yes... And I'm sorry Laila..."

"No... It's..."

"Come on let's go... Where not here to just stand around and do nothing... Where here to have some fun..."

"Gabi..."

"Come on Laila... Let's go..."

As Gabi pulled Laila.

"You too Jester... Let's go..."

"Yes..."

 Then when they got in the karaoke. The tension was filled the air.

All was silence except for Gabi.

Jester sit there all silence and whenever Laila talk to him. He avoid it or just nod or agreed.

Jester grew cold. For he don't want to make Laila uncomfortable by clinging to her so much that may irritate her. For he thinks he was being too close to her. And he thinks Laila doesn't want it. So he created a space between them.

For in Jester point of view. Laila didn't prefer him as a friend. That's why he acts like that.

But Laila misinterpret it. He thought that Jester is mad.

So they didn't talk and fell silent.

As Gabi tries to lit up the spirit in there. And with that all cheer up. They sing, drink and laugh all thanks to Gabi.

Jester smile. But deep down he was hurt. And Laila knew it all well. As the day ended.

Gabi and her co-worker went home and left jester and Laila there. 

As Jester lead Laila home. The tension between them grew stronger.

Silence field the air. As they walk in silent. And when they got to Laila's home. Laila can't fight her feelings anymore and a tear fell to her eyes.

"Laila why are you crying?..."

"It's just... it's just I feel your drifting away from me..."

"Laila..."

"I'm sorry Jester... Please don't leave me... I don't wants us to be like this... If I don't speak I know any moment you will go far away from me... And I don't want that to happen... So please Jester..."

Jester was too ashamed of himself to let her cry like that. He can't take the words she just said.

Jester try to calm Laila but Laila refused.

"Jester I'm sorry... Don't leave me..."

Jester grab her and pull her into his arms. Laila was shock but was overwhelmed by his actions. And she cried even more.

"Laila... Listen to me... I'm sorry... I'm the one who should feel ashamed... I never have thought about how you feel... I'm so inconsiderate..."

Laila disagreed with him. As Jester continued speaking.

"Laila... Maybe I'm the one who misleading everything... So I have to make it clear..."

"Laila... I love you..."

"Jester?..."

"I love you Laila... Do you love me too?"

"Yes... I love you Jester..." she said happily with tears in her eyes.

But before jester leaves. A Question remained unanswered.

"So what is a boyfriend means?..."

"Eh?..."
