When Emily boarded the car to the small town, her heart was filled with despair.


She had thought that after years of application, she had finally passed the review to become a one-star rescuer and was about to face a major turning point in her life, but her first assignment was to go to District 17, joining this life-risking task.


Before departing, the company gathered all the investigators participating in this inquiry for a meeting not only to boost their morale but primarily to tell them in detail that if they were to unfortunately sacrifice their lives during the mission, the company would provide their families with generous compensation.


Beyond a sum of money sufficient for the latter half of their lives, her parents would also enjoy the medical benefits of company employees and could visit the prosthetics hospital owned by the company for two comprehensive medical check-ups each year free of charge.
