Chapter 25: All Good Things Must Come To Pass

Elise woke up in the same position she had fallen asleep in: her head on Mako's chest and her arms wrapped around him. His light snoring amused her, and she traced his pectoral muscle with her finger. She had never felt so safe in her life under his arm.

However, as much as she enjoyed the night, Elise knew she couldn't linger any further. She carefully slid out from under his arm so as to not wake Mako and sat up. Grabbing her clothes and belongings, she dressed and stretched the stiffness out of her limbs.

"Going so soon?" Mako said in a hazy voice.

Elise smiled, leaned over, and kissed his cheek.

"I'm afraid so," she said. "One of us needs to be seen today, or else Dmitri might tear down the entire ship looking for us."

"Fine," Mako said, a faint smile forming. "I suppose you're right. I'm going to sleep in a little more, I think. It seems all my energy has drained from me."

"Hmm, I wonder why that could be," Elise said, biting her lower lip.
