Mako finally came to from his slumber, dazy and his vision blurred. He stretched his arm across the vacant spot next to him on the bed. A deep sigh left his lips, but he knew Elise had to attend to things elsewhere.

Sitting up on the bed, Mako raised his palm to his throbbing forehead. Dehydration and too much sleep had caught up to him. The room Elise had secured for him was a fraction of the size of his suite, but Mako happily traded the comfort it lacked for the protection it provided.

The cool water from the sink in the bathroom shook him awake as he splashed his face several times. When he leaned up, he looked at himself in the mirror and leaned his head to one side while taking notice of the short hairs growing across his lower face.

He turned to the duffle bag he had brought with him from his suite and unzipped it. Mako removed a razor and shaving cream from it and walked back to the sink.
