You Are My Family

That night, Miguel had his arms tightly wrapped around Gemma as they lay in bed. It was raining heavily. They both barely spoke, since Miguel got back. After speaking with her father, he made sure to stop by the supermarket and got the things that they needed.

"I'm sorry you got ostracized from your family because of me," he said to her.

"It's okay, it wasn't your fault." Gemma gently rubbed his arm. She had her back to him. They've both been in bed for the past hour and she has been trying to get some sleep, but to no avail.

She has been thinking about her father and the things he had said to her. She couldn't believe that her father would cut ties with his only daughter without even blinking. It's as if she never meant anything to him at all. She is his daughter for crying out loud, he can't just sever ties with her just like that. She's family, his blood! But then again, her father doesn't truly care about anyone else but himself. Not even family.
