Abnormally in the Sky

A cold light flashed in the small cave, as dozens of needles shot towards Ye Mo from a blind angle. He dodged to the side quickly, his spiritual sense had long covered the entire cave, even a fly would not go unnoticed.

The three assassins eyes narrowed grimly, they brought out a bag of powder from the possession, and withdrew a poison coated dagger hidden under the sleeves.

Before Ye Mo could react, the bag of powder was thrown into the air, it content spilled out and covered the whole cave. The trio swallowed a black pill as they shot towards Ye Mo flanking him from different directions.

Ye Mo experienced a slight tremor in his mind, the mind chaotic powder. It had the ability to make one unfocused and lose their rationality for a moment. That small chance could basically spell the end of a cultivator.

Unfortunately, the trio ran into a nutcase. After his transmigration, his soul had been his biggest strength.

The trio closed in on the startled Ye Mo and slashed at the vital points on his body with the poison coated dagger. Their eyes widened suddenly, because their Target that was under the effect of the mind chaotic powder suddenly vanished into thin air before their eyes. Dread crept over them as they hurriedly turned to look at their back, but it was too late.

Plop. Plop. Plop. They fell to the ground gripping their neck tightly, words inaudible to the human ear came out from their mouth. Fear and horror could be seen in their closing eyes. They died having no inkling to what caused their demise. The powder clearly had no effect on him, they were just preys waiting to be slaughtered. Their hands gripped their messaging stone tightly, they badly wanted to report their findings and explain the cause of their death but strength left their bodies.

Ye Mo stared at their bodies with a nonchalant expression, he ripped off their clothes and belongings. Dozens of small needles, their poison coated dagger, and flying dart. He took all of them. As he was about to embark on the journey, the need for a disguise became important. He put on the black robe, his face was wrapped around a piece of black cloth, he discarded the bronze mask. Nodding his head in satisfaction, he exited the cave, only his pair of sharp eyes could be seen. He sucked in the gloomy air of the Wild Forest greedily. Dark clouds hovered in the sky, as lightning threatened to tear apart the earth.

'A gloomy weather for a bloodbath'. Ye Mo thought silently. He disappeared from the spot and ventured deeper into the Wild Forest, moving like a ghost, his breathing was almost non-existent, his steps light and inaudible, he rode on the wind coattails, drifting from one place to another. This was something he learned after watching how different wild beasts hunted their prey.

On top of a towering tree, probably one of the tallest tree in the Wild Forest. Two men and one woman sat around a giant bird, the wind claw roc, they were having a feast. The ferociousness of the bird still lingered, it had done is utmost best in defended it territory, but the trio had forcefully snatched away it habitation, even it life was not spared. The trio were dressed in complete black robes but unlike the others, they had a silver masks covering their face. Their amiable lunch was disrupted following the crack of three tablets by their side.

"Hmmm...." The bulky assassin eyes narrowed dangerously. "It seems like our target this time around is more capable than expected. What do you think, Soul Sucking Demoness?"

"Humph! We are the secret weapons. Why should we associate ourselves with those trash?! If they can't handle this small matter, I will really be disappointed." One of the black cloaked figure answered, judging from the voice, it was the only female.

"You can't say that! The target is an unusual one, three of our men fell at the same time, this mission is far from being simple." The bulky man tried to reason.

"Saber Devil, don't tell me that your Spirit has wane after a few years of retreat. No one in the Spirit Realm is a match for us . The target will surely die if we encounter him." The Soul Sucking Demoness retorted.

"Cough.. cough..." The pale looking assassin coughed repeatedly, he looked like he was on his last breath judging from his pale face and thin body. The Saber Devil and the Soul Sucking Demoness exchanged a glance and kept mute, their bickering came to an abrupt end. They had deep fear and respect for the pale young man. According to the rumors that circulated in the Hall of Death, he was among the top ten best silver masked assassins. That title was enough to garner the respect of all Spirit cultivators. Because all those ranked top ten were Spirit cultivators who made their debut by killing Kung Fu Master's. It was said that the sickly young man successfully assassinated an early stage Kung Fu Master that belonged to a major clan in his own residence.

Who were Kung Fu Master's? They belonged to major clans and forces in the Northern gate, they were powerful enough to form their own force. Their rage could destroy a city.

"Interesting." He said after wiping off the stain on his mouth. Hardly had his voice faded when another soul tablet broke. They represented the soul of a cultivator, so when the soul tablet of a cultivator breaks, it spells the death of that cultivator.

"Ha...ha...ha... Interesting, interesting..cough..cough..." the pale man laughed ghostly, a blood-thirsty aura radiated outwards.

"Sir Ghost Hand, what are we going to do about this?" Saber Devil asked skeptically, "Our target is most likely going on a killing spree, if we don't step in, it's likely that our force would be wiped out."

"Wait a little bit. Since he wants to play in the gloomy weather, we will be sure to fully entertain him." Ghost Hand said after thinking for a while.

Meanwhile, Ye Mo was having the best moment of his life, he moved like an untraceable ghost, his black cloaked body blending with the surrounding, even his hands were wrapped in a black glove, only his pair of sharp and evil eyes was exposed. They shone in the dark forest. His hands moved in a blur, he shot out seven needles consecutively, seven black cloaked figures fell from different positions with their lifetime force extinguished. He packed their belongings and vanished from the spot, he did not bothered to confirm their death. He appeared on a tall tree that provided a good cover. He shot out one of the dagger silently.

A black cloaked figure jumped out from the pit he was hiding, and tiptoed towards the source of the noise, he saw a dagger embedded on an extremely poisonous snake body dividing it neck from it body.

A bad feeling arose from the deepest part of his heart, before he could make amend of his mistake, a small needle pierced his glabella, his heart was filled with regret for his carelessness. He caught sight of a black clothed figure moving towards him unhurriedly, his mind went blank, since when did they have such a young assassin in the main force, reality dawned on him on his last breath, that person was impersonating them, he was an assassin of assassins.

Ye Mo found a bag full of short sharp thin needles, he harvested the core of the poisonous spirit snake and mixed it poisonous sac with other poisonous materials he collected, core of different poisonous beast. They formed a very strong poison which he used to coat the thin needles. The grudge between him and the Blind Feind would be wiped off by the demise of one party. Since they had no etiquette, he dealt with them in like manner.

Lightning flashed in anger, as the dark cloud opened it bottomless mouth and poured out the heavy rain it could no longer hold.

Ye Mo thanked the heavens for aiding him in his quest to wipe out the evil forces. Under the cover of the rain, his moves became even more unpredictable. He shuttled around the Wild Forest, shooting out the thin needles randomly.

The assassins in hiding felt a slight itch on their skin, they no attention to it. They thought it was the heavy rain, few minutes later, their breath became weaker. They noticed the abnormalities of their bodies all too late. They fell dead, more than twenty assassins fell dead at the same time. The others tried to keep in touch in case their target suddenly appeared but they received no response, they noticed that some of their members messaging stone could not be reached.

They alerted one another to keep alert, an itch on their skin. Their hearts skipped beats. Poison! They hurriedly took a lot of poison resistant pills but that did not stop their breath from waning.

The trio sitting on the towering tree wore a bleak face, the aura around them was biting chill. Twenty cultivators were killed at once, the more they thought about it, the angrier and alarmed they became.

They've lost a total of thirty-two assassins in one day, more soul tablets broke, the figures kept increasing. They got a message, "We're being hunted by a very skilled assassin, who uses poisonous needles to kill his prey. The poison is very potent. We are now gathering in group right now, our numbers are dwindling, please help us." It was a cry for help.

Ghost Hand got up, his sunken eyes radiated a fierce light, a bleak aura spread out, the surrounding plants withered, he scanned the inner part of the Wild Forest frostily. "I thought we've ran into our target but it seems like we're mistaken. Someone is far ahead of us, wanting to snatch our prey."

The Saber Devil and the Soul Sucking Demoness exchanged glance and their expression soured.

The secret mission had been leaked and someone wanted to snatch their prey from their grip. Their mind raced as they thought of the Master behind this.

The abnormality of the cloud spiralled. Thunder struck, the void became chaotic, the heavens shook and darkness befell the Wild Forest. The towns nearest to the Wild Forest were not spared, they descended into darkness.

Ye Mo was startled by the sudden change in the sky. All mercenaries, cultivators from the towns and cities, even the beasts in the Wild Forest looked up simultaneously and they saw the scene that they would never forget in their lives.
