I was dancing with the devil, that was the most certain thing in my life.
As I read that text, I just closed my eyes and tried to find my happy place in my mind. The moments I had with Aiden. But they weren’t there.
Fear exceeded love for the first time.
I wasn’t aware of time, but when I looked around myself, I saw daylight. The night was over.
I got up, took a shower and left without talking to Di. I had no energy to say even one word.
I headed to the office, again, talking to no one. I closed myself in my room at work.
But I wasn’t even thinking, I was in a void. The defense mechanism I had in my body was working, I guessed.
I texted Max.
"I’m at the office."
"I’ll be there in thirty minutes."
He kept his promise. Around thirty minutes later, he was in my office.
He wore a gray t-shirt and black jeans. He looked like he hadn’t slept for a week and his yellow hair was messy.
"Hi, Lara," he sat down on the couch slowly.
"Hey," I murmured while looking down.
