Chapter 48: Stampede

TW: This chapter contains the death of characters, viewer discretion is advised.

Whether it was the noise of the fighting Leaders, the scent of so many predators nearby or just bad timing from another hunter further upwind, the fact of the matter was that the warring factions were facing a multitude of panicking deer. It was unusual to see so many at once, at least for the younger wolves. Still, they took their cues from their elders, who all were fleeing from several hooves and antlers pounding towards them.

Vincent, as the faster wolf, had dragged Bonnie out of the way of the stampede as soon as he had seen the forerunners. Lucas was not so lucky, as he was currently trying to avoid one particularly ornery buck who seemed to have it out for him. He suspected, later, that the buck was another shifter, one of the ones who really hated predator shifters. In the middle of the chaos, though, he could only think about trying to get himself and his pack out of the way.
