Not worthy.

Being the centre of attention Liana wasn't something new but as she stood in the centre of the king of hell throne room she didn't like the feeling it brought.

Her hold on Xavier's hand tightened, "Love, I don't think it was a good idea coming in " she whispered.

"Father and his ministers, we greet you," he said.

"Welcome back Prince Avel " they replied. His father got up walking down from his throne to meet them. Hugging his son then Liana, "Welcome, am glad you came " he said.

The ministers left leaving them alone.

"Your mother has been waiting for you".

"Sorry if we made her wait, we kept postponing the day" she apologized.

"You did make it this time, so she will be happy," he said.

"Where is mother ?" asked Xavier.

"In the garden, let's go see her together " the king lead them out.

"Father, there is something I need to talk to you about " Xavier stopped him

"Okay ".

Xavier turned and smiled at Liana. "Go ahead love, I will be there "

She nodded following the maid out of the room.

They walked to the garden and she soon saw the queen basking in the warmth of the sun enjoying the flowers.

"Mother " she called.

The queen's eyes flew open and she turned to see Liana.

"Finally you here " she smiled.

"Am sorry I made you wait that long " she softly fell in her arms.

"I miss you," she said.

"I missed you too, mother ".

She sat down joining her, "This place looks different "

"I needed some new flowers I got when I came to see you last time "

Liana smiled, "It looks beautiful ".

"Thank you, at first I thought it would not work cause of the different conditions but they sprung up after taking care of them," she said.

"I bought you a lot of gifts this time and I hope you love them," she said.

"Thank you, dear, I also made you a few dresses this time more customised to your size " she whispered.

Liana laughed, "As long as Xavier finds me attractive am good with anything "

"Am sure he will and where is he?"

"Having a chat with father " she said.

The queen held her hand, "That's good, let us enjoy. our time alone too"

They enjoyed tea with cake and walked around. Then went to look at the things Liana had bought her.

"I had asked you if he had any plans to hurt Liana but you no, so how come he hurt her as that " Xavier looked at his father.

"I have already punished him for harming her and also took away his powers, he won't be able to hurt his family again ".

"And why did you allow it in the first place, he an evil cruel bastard ".

"Son I understand what you mean but he left of his free will and when I got to know about his motives I was a step behind to stop him "

"His your right-hand man and you didn't know what he was doing ....father if I find out what he did had something to do with you then this time I won't hold back " Xavier got up and walked out.

He found Liana and his mother laughing at the outfit she had bought her.

"Isn't this a little bit showy, sweetheart?" she said hugging her son.

"Not at all mom, you can maybe try it on for father and see how he reacts" they both laughed.

"I agree," she said.

"How have you been mother ?" he asked.

"Doing okay mother "

"That's good, so I wanted to ask when you will give me a grandchild "

Liana chocked on the wine she was sipping, "mother, isn't it a little too early to ask for one "

"Not at all, it's the right time. You both should have a child before your marriage so that it can prove to those old fools how capable you are to be by my son's side " said the queen.

"What did those fools say, mother ?" Xavier asked.

"That Liana isn't worthy to be your queen or replace me in the future after me and your father have left the throne to you ".

"Is that why they kept staring at me that way? I could feel their judging stares as I stood in the throne room "Liana sighed.

"Don't worry yourself, dear, eventually they will accept you?" said the Queen.

"Is it because of the past ?" asked Xavier.

"It's part of the reason and the other is because she is a human. After what I went through they can't allow any human to be made their ruler "

"Am I that bad ?" Liana frowned.

"Your perfect dear, it's just that they rather see a fellow demon rule them than a weak human "

Xavier scowled, "Liana is perfect and I don't care if they don't like her cause she is going to be with me no matter what "

"You hear that dear, my son is determined to keep loving you even with those old fools going against him. So don't worry yourself and enjoy your stay here " Liana nodded.

But even with them assuring her she felt something was off and she wasn't sure it would favour her stay there.
