The perfect day

***Matty's POV***

I literally just spilled my guts out. But this feels like it's going well. She's kissing me with her tongue in my mouth and tears are falling down her perfect cheeks. I'm so relieved I got to tell her, I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. She knows how I feel. I can't help the butterflies in my stomach waiting for her to say something.

She breaks away from the kiss. Here we go. I look at her keeping her eye contact.

"When you took me out for this first time I knew I had made up my mind about you. And since then the way I feel has only intensified. My only concern at the time was whether you were feeling just as much in love as I was. I would love to be with you Matty. I have so much respect for you, I already can't imagine not waking up to you every morning" she chuckles

I love to see her laugh. To see her genuinely happy and know that it was me that contributed to that happiness is everything for me.

"So we're exclusive?" She says, ironing out the details. She's so cute.

"Yes. Of course we are. My mum gave me that look the other day which said don't fuck this up and I couldn't agree with her more. Who in their right mind would knowingly hurt you?" I tell her rolling a cigarette for the journey back.

"Once I realised you were serious about me Tay and hadn't yet run off I felt like I was pinching myself to check it was really happening" I tell her licking the cigarette closed.

She laughs, watching me roll another. And then retrieves her phone from her little black bag.

"I can tell Rhea?" She asks

"Of course you can. You can tell everyone if you want babe." I smile.

She begins texting Rhea on her phone, a smile playing on her lips. Her phone buzzes straight away and she grins. I'm guessing Rhea was pleased for her. I decide then it's safe to ask her my next question.

"Wanna do a double date with those guys? I like Malachi he's cool" I suggest.

We get up and start walking back. Hand in hand.

"Yes that would be great" she says looking up at me eyes all glittery.

She quickly sends off a message to Rhea asking her about a date next week. Then she places her phone back in her bag.

As we walk back to the car we approach the last place on my list.

I've never bought anything for a girl ever, but I'm determined for her to have something from this place. Something to look at and think that's from when we went there and became who we are to each other.

I gently pull her to a stop outside the glittering jewellers. She ogles at a blue sapphire ring in the window. I can tell she's taken with it. The deep blue sapphire is matched with two silver ones either side and held on a silver band. It's so her, feminine and beautiful yet different. Placing my arms around her waist I ask her, "You like it?"

She looks at me and that's when it's strikes me the sapphires match her eyes, it's a done deal in my mind.

"You don't have too this is enough Matty" she smiles looking at me.

"I want to buy you something for you to keep, something for you to remember this by" I tell her, am I becoming a sap?

"Why don't we just try it on your hand" I tease her pushing my hair back and giving her my best smile.

We go in the shop. She says she doesn't want to look at any other pieces. She's taken with that one ring and I find myself hoping it fits her.

The lady behind the counter carefully retrieves the ring from the window. We both gaze at it sitting in its box. I take it out carefully and face her. She hands me her right hand and I place it on her index finger. It of course fits her perfectly. It suits her and she is smiling down at it gleefully.

"Think of it as an eternity ring" I tell her.

She looks up at me away from the ring for a second. I feel so self conscious. I've not ever done this before, am I doing it right? I don't want to scare her off now.

"I love it Matty, it's gorgeous." She kisses me.

I'm so relieved she just accepted it as a gift and didn't want to fight me over buying it. I'm glad we managed to find her something from there it's where my mums engagement ring came from. I tell her this as we approach the car. Who knows maybe someday we'll return here for our own engagement rings. I don't say that to her just yet. It's nearly 4pm now and I'm gonna drive us straight to her mums.

Once we're on the straight road I light up. I put on the radio low as she's gazing from her ring to out the window. Most girls would normally have been taking pictures of it and putting it all over Facebook. I like that she's not like most girls.

"Here babe" I say passing her the roll up.

I love how it's a given that she will finish off my smokes now.

"I love you Matty" she tells me "thanks for the perfect day" she smiles.

"I love you too babe" I tell her.

"Thanks for making it perfect" I say.

All of our stuff is in the boot from earlier, I plan to get started on my drawing of her as soon as I can stop touching her for any given amount of time. I didn't tell her I was going to draw her, I figure it will be a nice surprise when it's finished.
