Chapter Thirty- Five

Vanishing and reappearing across the city like a phantom, Peter tried his best to keep up with Sarah, but the girl kept getting farther and farther away before disappearing around a bend.

'How can she run so fast? My movements are instantaneous except for that brief pause to take another step. I've never had a problem outrunning someone before, until now, that is,' Peter thought as he followed the dust cloud that Sarah left behind in her wake.

Peter ran across an alleyway, trying to keep the dust trail in sight, but even that was fading away from view when he came to a complete stop clutching his ears. A sound like no other blasted his eardrums. It sounded like a thousand truck horns blaring in his ears at once. His ears rang for several moments after the sound wave blasted them, with a sound loud enough to rattle his bones.
