The city streets were vacant of people in the early hour. The sun was already peeking over the high walls surrounding the city, lighting up the streets, making the ever-present glow from the dome-shaped force field seem to fade away. The curfew set in place at night had already lifted, but the vast majority of the people didn't get out of their houses until between eight and nine, giving the two men walking down the street the place to themselves.
Peter followed Carson as he led them to the City Gate that separated the Outer-city from the Inner-city. They walked on in silence the whole time, which suited Carson just fine. He really didn't like a meaningless conversation, to be honest. He preferred the quiet. It made it easier for him to collect his thoughts and where they were going; he would need a clear mind, but as they say, all good things must come to an end eventually.
