Wu Ling waited patiently for Jilang to speak. However, an hour has passed and they are still at a standstill. Wu Ling, on the other hand, is impressed by such steadfastness. And Jilang's actions have confirmed Wu Ling's suspicion that Jilang is the Demon Venerable's most loyal subordinate.
The Demon Venerable has many subordinates and demons, but only five are loyal to him, with one being the most loyal. Jilang, the Demon Venerable's most capable and trusted subordinate, is the only one in this position. His devotion to the Demon Venerable is both admirable and tragic.
Jilang was always the protagonist's main target in the novel Wu Ling had read, as he is his most loyal subordinate and naturally knows many secrets others are unaware of. Jilang has been subjected to abuse from the novel's main characters in many chapters. There was even a time when he had to endure torture at the hands of the protagonist in order to reveal all of the Demon Venerable's flaws. Jilang never succumbed and surrendered to them from the beginning to the end; he remained loyal until the end of his life. Similarly to Wu Ling, he only lasted a month.
As a result, once Wu Ling has confirmed his identity, she releases him. Jilang's head is still bowed at the moment.
"Go," Wu Ling said first, breaking the tie. This one word from her, however, stunned Jilang, who was already prepared to die at her hands. Jilang can't stop himself from admiring her. Wu Ling, on the other hand, has already turned her back on her and vanished from his sight.
Jilang remained motionless for a few moments longer before staggering to his feet and running through the woods to his Venerable. He must report this to his venerable without hesitation.
The Azure Dragon City is located in the Phoenix continent's northwestern corner. It is quite far from the territory of Hai Lang, at the Southeast part of the Phoenix Continent. Despite this, it only took Jilang one day to arrive on his sword. Wu Ling, on the other hand, was bored because Jilang moved too slowly in her opinion.
This is normal because the speed at which one travels is determined by their cultivation level. Wu Ling, who is already immortal, would only need one minute to reach the Demon Venerable's territory. As they approach the Demon Territory, Wu Ling can't help but be excited about the city's appearance. Jilang, riding on his sword, is still unaware that he is being pursued by Wu Ling. How surprised he'd be if he'd known.
Wu Ling, dressed in a black robe and mask, her long hair fluttering in the breeze, exudes mystery. Such a sight cannot help but captivate one. Unfortunately, no one is fortunate enough to witness this.
Wu Ling's enhanced vision allows her to see the outline of the Demon City for the first time. As they got closer, the expression on her face behind the mask began to change from surprise to amazement.
The notorious Demon City is actually quite lively. Wu Ling had expected all of the structures to be gloomy, but not such ordinary and simple structures. The Demon City is virtually identical to the city of the righteous cultivators, if not better and more lively.
Demonic cultivators and ordinary demons flocked to the streets, and Wu Ling can see demon children happily playing and laughing. A heart-warming scene was taking place in this territory. Wu Ling's imagination of the Demon City pales in comparison to the real thing.
Wu Ling has not read the whole novel and were fully invested to the character with the same name as hers and dropped the novel when that character died. Therefore, Wu Ling has no idea about a lot of things in the novel and so has no plan or desire to rely on such. Wu Ling only want to live in this world peacefully and doesn't want to be involved with the main characters at all.
Jilang flew straight for the Demon Venerable, Hai Lang's castle. He looked for his Venerable as soon as he arrived at his destination. Jilang already knew where he was, which was in the garden, so he went straight there. Wu Ling followed him in, unconcerned and certain that no one would notice.
The morning light shines down on the garden, filling it with light and creating a wonderful atmosphere. Hai Lang, with his long silky and smooth hair, long eyelashes, red and devilish lips, a perfect nose, and phoenix eyes, looked ethereal as the sun shone down on him.
This was the scene Wu Ling witnessed as the guards on the side pushed open the door to the garden to welcome Jilang's return.
'Thump, thump, thump'
Wu Ling felt her heartbeat begin to pump, making her feel confused and flustered behind the mask.
"What the hell? Am I heaving a heart attack? " Wu Ling thought as she put her hand at the top of her chest.
