Somewhere Else

As Achilles finished cooking the meat, the last ray of sun was about to extinguish as well. He quickly removed the meat and then put out the fire, high ranked Corrupted creatures were not like some regular beasts that were afraid of fire. On the contrary, bright source of light like this was only going to attract their attention.

After ensuring that the fire was promptly gone, he sat down and stared at the meat, Achilles let out a sigh as he said in an expectant voice:

"Alright, I have expectation for you. You better taste good."

With high hopes in his mind, he removed his mask, opened his mouth wide and took a large chunk out of the piece of meat in his hands. He chewed carefully for 3 seconds before swallowing down the meat as he thought:

'It...It.....tastes just like regular meat.'

Achilles was downhearted by his finding since he thought that if these creatures were evolved and mutated, they would be better than the non-evolved version of themselves.

"You become so much deadlier than your predecessors yet this is how you taste like?! Curse this stupid life!" Achilles yelled out in indignation.

"...Whatever, worst case scenario it could have tasted like shit, so I'm still lucky I guess." He tried to encourage himself by looking at the bright side.

While he was still feeling frustrated by the matter, two of the five corpses he had laid out created two mysterious glow that lasted for a second, then vanished as if nothing had happened.

'Is that...'

Achilles quickly moved to the position where the two glow were and what he found widened his eyes a little.

"...I'll be damned." He grinned from ear to ear at the sight in front of him.

It was two soul artifacts coming from the two Corrupted that he had killed, he extended his hands to touch them as they turned into two white lights which flew into his head. His mind instantly received information about the two of them.

'Venom Grenade — Tier E.'

'A grenade that would explode venomous aura upon being thrown, the venom would blind a creature's senses for a while. The time depends on the rank difference between mine and the target.'

'Five-time uses remaining.'

'Water of Invigoration — Tier E.'

'A source of water that would boost my recovery, restore health and energy. The extent will be depended on my own strength.'

'Can only be used ten times, required a month of recharging to be used again.'

Soul artifacts were ranked from Tier E to Tier S, with Tier E being the lowest and Tier S the highest. Each Tier represented the rank of the Divine or Corrupted it was created from. For instance, a Tier E artifact would be originated from an Evolved while a Tier S artifact would be from an Almighty or Demonic.

Achilles' grin got wider and crazier after finished reading the information, he just got two damn good soul artifacts!

Granted, one of them could only be used five times and the other needed to recharge after ten uses, but they were still really useful in certain situations if being used correctly.

Plus the fact that soul artifacts were hard to come by, Achilles saw this as an absolute win!

After he was done laughing, Achilles quickly collect the corpses back inside his pockets. Many people still paid a lot for monsters' corpses so he naturally wasn't going to throw them away.

'What a nice harvest...' He thought to himself in contentment.

He silently sat back to his old position while his eyes darting around carefully.

For the rest of the night, Achilles didn't sleep and remained on guard for signs of Corrupted creatures.

...However, he wasn't able to perceive multiple humanoid shadows, looking at him from the distance.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Near the city's center, at the top of a skyscraper building.
Inside a laboratory filled with different tools and equipment, a woman in her early twenties was attempting some sort of experiment on a humanoid creature.
Suddenly the watch on her hand vibrated a little, snapping her out of her focus. She stopped what she was doing and opened her watch as it displayed a small hologram that ran a video. She looked at the video for a while before a slight smirk formed on her lips:
"He should be more careful...Guess I'll have to lend him a helping hand again."
With that said she took off her lab coat and got out of the laboratory, she walked past a few people who all looked at her in reverence while bowing their heads. She didn't respond and only coldly walked past them as if they didn't exist.
She was naturally Sia, the heiress of the Evernight family who held a peculiar interest in Achilles.
Sia soon arrived at her office and then sat down on her chair, she opened her computer up before typing something for a while. Soon she was done and laid back in her chair a little, she said with a bit creepy smile:
"I wonder what you're going to do this time..."
Sia continued working on other matters for a while before she left her room and headed to lower floors.
'Finally, I can train a little.' She thought while sighing in relief. Work had taken too much of her time already so she had been eager to do a little muscles stretching.
