The sun slowly rose from the east, replacing the starry night sky with a bright blue color. The sunlight shone onto the window of a particular room, illuminating a tall figure sitting on the bed.
"Tsk." Achilles clicked his tongue in annoyance: "Still haven't been able to control it fluently."
It had been a day since he got discharged from the morgue without any problem, thanked to Sia. Originally, his plan was to begin devouring the corpses one by one and then quickly advance to the next stage.
But after careful consideration, he decided that it was still too risky to attempt such thing due to how weak he was. Thus he had to postpone it for 24 hours and spent the entire yesterday to practice his skills along with his essences control.
Achillles didn't rest at all and was only practicing throughout the day, but oddly enough, he didn't feel hungry nor tired whatsoever.
RUMBLE~~!
...Until now, that was.
'...I should have breakfast.' Achilles shook his head lightly after hearing his stomach's complaint. It seemed he was so focused that he didn't even manage to sense his body's request.
After letting out a big ass yawn, Achilles called the front desk to order room service. The staff was surprised to find out that someone was calling for room service this early in the morning, but the latter didn't say anything and only obliged to the former's request.
Achilles decided to jump into the bath in the meantime while waiting, one of his favorite things to do in the morning was to take a cold bath, after all. It really refreshed his mind after a long full night of sleep.
The room service came moments later to deliver what he had ordered — it was the usual sandwich since he liked to keep his breakfast simple and quick to finish.
After finished eating the sandwich, Achilles laid down on the bed and absentmindedly stared at the ceiling for a while. He then closed his eyes as he dived into the Mindscape.
Everything remained the same as they were the last time he came here. Achilles walked directly towards the throne room without paying his surroundings much heed because he had gotten used to this place already.
He stood in front of the door led to the throne room and silently looked at them for ten seconds. He extended his left hand and pushed the door forward, the interior was slowly getting revealed by the torches hanging on both sides of the room.
"Argh!" A sudden headache assaulted Achilles, making him kneel down while clutching his head.
After the pain had lessened a little, he raised his vision to look around the room and immediately closed his eyes due to another sudden pain. It was as if someone had just inserted two melting metal sticks inside his eyes, the pain burned crazily on both a physical and psychological level.
"Haa...haa...haa."
Achilles gradually opened his eyes and started looking around, even though his eyes were still feeling like they had been set aflame, he had quickly adapted to it, albeit barely able to.
On all four sides of the room were multiple skeletons of white color with one being black. Each one of them had different shapes and sizes. However, the skeletons shared an unmistakable similarity...they were all looking at Achilles like they wanted to tear him apart and chew on him.
He could feel an unbearable hatred just by looking at the skeletons, every time he gazed at them, they stared back without moving away.
It was like an admonition — a reminder of blood — that they still remembered what he had done to them.
The pain in Achilles' retinas began intensifying due to looking at his trophies for an extended period of time, he couldn't bear it much longer and decided to get out of the Mindscape.
He wanted to check on his soul when he dived into his Mindscape but decided that it could be dealt with later on...Somehow.
"Arghhh!!" He opened his eyes while feeling the pain in his head and retinas that vanished a second later.
A few uneven breaths later, he calmed down and went to a full-body mirror in his room. He saw that his eyes were bloodshot from all the pressure he was feeling earlier and his clothes were drenched in cold sweats.
Achilles didn't bother changing them but headed back to his bed, he touched his chin while analyzing the event that had happened.
'...That confirms my guess about only Divine or Corrupted are impaled on the walls. Also, it seems that the creatures that I devour wholely will have black skeletons while those whom I only absorbed remnants partially or non at all will have white skeletons.'
"Still...I don't understand why would I need to have those things look at me in such a creepy way." He muttered in a voice filled with dread.
"Anyway...let's get onto the main business of today shall we, gentlemen?" Achilles started a monologue in a joking voice as an attempt to ease his uncomfortable mood.
