Mind of The Corrupted

Achilles took out a monster's corpse from his pockets and it landed with a loud thud on the floor.

The former stared at the corpse motionlessly for a while before face-palming himself:

"How the fuck will I clean this up afterward?"

"...Whatever, I'll deal with it later."

Achilles then sat down on the floor next to the human's fist boar, it was the second Corrupted he had ever slain.

He didn't bother with the mosquito since he could not enter its Mindscape even if he wanted to.

Once he had found a comfortable position to sit on, he immediately went to work. It was only possible to enter the Mindscape when the creature was not dead for too long, he needed to be quick otherwise all his efforts would be wasted.

Achilles extended his right hand to touch the boar's head, his eyes turned bright red as he muttered:

[Devour.]

Everything around him went pitch black for a split second before the scenery before him slowly revealed itself.

He was in the middle of a forest, not the particular green lush type...but a dead one. The sky was dyed with a dark red color, the surrounding trees were wilted and their leaves had fallen out completely. There was also a rotting stench within the air.

Just three seconds in this place and Achilles had already wanted to jump out, everything in this forest screamed of danger and madness that were lurking everywhere.

If a normal person ever had to witness this scene, they would probably be having a mental breakdown.

Luckily for Achilles, he was already halfway to become a completely deranged sociopath, so he didn't get affected much by this.

...This was a good thing, right?

'...Where do I find its soul? This place looks the same in every direction.' Achilles looked around without moving while feeling puzzled.

'..Let's start walking around first.'

He took a step forward when suddenly his instinct screamed out which made him retreat back.

At the place he was prior, a hairy human's hand rose, grabbing thin air. Before Achilles managed to understand what was going on, his intuition sounded out again and he ran away once more.

A nearby tree turned into another hand and punched his former position, missing Achilles by a hair length.

He stood back up and scanned his surroundings, the barren land had suddenly become alive, as if it was a living organism.

'...Shit!' Achilles did not have to be a genius to understand that — the owner of this place clearly didn't like having guests!

He started turning around and ran in a random direction, hoping to find the soul's location.

As he ran at full speed, the land around him transformed into more and more hairy hands. They tried to grab him, punch him or squash him like a bug without stopping.

Achilles relied on his instinct and also his battle experience which he had forged during those terrible two months to dodge the relentless assaults coming from the angry owner.

'They're becoming more abundant!' He thought while shifting his body to avoid the hand that rose from underneath his feet and one behind him from a nearby "tree".

At first, only a few attacked him but more hands started growing out like fungus taking root on the trees, the hands also began assaulting him simultaneously instead of one at a time like before.

'Run, run, run, run!' Achilles sprinted with all of his might while screaming like a psycho in his mind.

He had been running and dodging hands for at least 9 minutes but there was still no sign of a glowing orb anywhere.

'Fuck! Why is this place so large?' Achilles thought in annoyance while stepping back and escaping a hand's grasp to his right.

At the same time, three more hands reached out to him from every direction, he immediately used the hand that just attacked him to climb on it, then leaped away.

But this proved to be a fatal mistake as he saw five hands heading directly towards him, their speed was incomparable to what they were prior.

Because Achilles was in the air, he was practically defenseless since maneuvering his body without a foothold like Plumber Number 1 and Number 2 — An impossible task!

[Obey.] His eyes flashed bright red as he tried to instill a mind attack onto the hands, but they only faltered for a mere 2 seconds before ramming into him.

[Gargh!] He was sent flying like a bullet and then fell onto the ground. His ribs cracked a little and his organs were slightly shaken by fierce strike.

Although this wasn't actual physical body but his mind still got injured...and a mental or a soul attack was much more painful than a physical one.

'I fucking hate homeground's advantage.'

Before he managed to stand up again, mutiple hands grew like spikes and punched directly where he was laying.

If Achilles got hit by this strike, he was pretty damn sure he would become a vegetable forever!

'Mamma mia!!!'
