Spiderlings

"On my command...FIRE!!!"

The group unleashed a barrage of attacks on the thousands of spiderlings climbing around the tower.

BOOM!!!

A large explosion resounded as a bunch of spiderlings caught on fire and lost their grip on the building.

This damage meant nothing, however, since the fallen quickly reassembled themselves and started crawling back.

"AGAIN!"

Luna and Mina, along with the other four fired their attacks at the spiders again via abilities and soul artifacts.

BOOOOM!!!!

A blast that was much stronger than before struck the spiderlings again, a larger group was set on fire this time.

But just like before, they swiftly formed themselves back to normal as if nothing had ever happened.

The spiderlings turned their gazes at those who had attempted to injure them twice. Their red eyes shone brightly as they began crawling toward the six people.

"Hold your ground!" Luna ordered as the impending sea of Corrupted arrived near.

"ATTACK!!!"

Mina summoned a torrent of crystal bullets and her three golems as they began rampaging on the enemies. The latter smashed every puppet with their large hands while the former pierced through multiple spiders.

Yuna conjured her blade and swung horizontally forward, an incandescent wave of flames surged out from her sword and overwhelmed the spiderlings.

Jackson, Ryan, and Tiffany used three bows that were soul artifacts with different enchantments to shoot down the puppets from afar.

As for Luna, she channeled intense lightning at her fingertips and sent them to the enemies. The spiderlings that were unfortunately suffered from her devastating firepower instantly turned into crispy meat.

The temporary alliance coordinated their abilities perfectly and held back the horde of spiders for a while.

It was fortunate that they were all trained fighters who had forged their experience from blood and iron, otherwise, they would all be dead the moment the spiderlings decided to target them.

Eventually, their abilities could no longer keep the enemies at bay as some spiders were able to advance beyond the safe line.

"Tsk!" Luna clicked her tongue before taking out her knife and clashing head-on with one of the spiders.

Her body crackled with lightning as she tore a spiderling apart and kicked its corpse back, making it collide with other spiderlings.

The ponytail girl did not have to kill the spiders as she only needed to push them back so that they couldn't touch the others.

Using her lightning abilities, she decimated and pushed back any spiders that tried to go through and attacked the backline.

Nothing managed to bypass her defense as the speed she was moving made her seem like an incarnation of the lightning god.

"As expected from the Lightning Empress..." Jackson mumbled as he was awestruck by Luna's capabilities.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

While the alliance was still pushing back the monsters, a series of loud noises as if someone was smashing a wall resounded across the space.

The spiderlings' movements suddenly became rigid as they gradually slowed down.

This helped the six have some room to breathe as they looked around, trying to search for the source behind the noises.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The sound of clashing continued as Luna and the rest saw that the Mother Spider was crashing itself onto multiple nearby buildings and destroying them in the process.

Luna was distracted by what was happening before her, so she wasn't able to see four spiderlings jumping in her direction.

The ponytail girl snapped out of her daze and was surprised by the spiders' appearance.

Luckily, before they were able to get to her, multiple crystal bullets shot out and pierced their body instantly.

"Luna! Focus!" Mina shouted from behind her in a stern voice.

Luna turned her attention back to the fox girl and nodded apologetically.

"My bad."

Just as she was about to resume pushing back the spiderlings again, they shuddered for a moment before their bodies started breaking down like stringless marionettes.

Everyone lowered their guard a little while wondering what was going on.

"Hey, why did the-"

BOOM!!

A loud sound akin to a metal bat colliding with another metallic object shook the atmosphere, making those who were present instinctively cover their ears.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Before they were able to recover, a continuous chain of strikes reverberated throughout the large open space, making the six individuals' eardrums ring painfully.

When there was no more noise for a moment, Mina and the other removed their hands from their ears, trying to discern what was going on.

BOOOM!!!

Another earth-trembling noise rang out which caught all of them off guard and they knelt down in pain, the weaker ones amongst the six like Ryan or Tiffany lost consciousness immediately as blood slowly dripped out of their ears.

'What could have caused these noises?' Luna and Mina thought at the same time in worry before they ingested a pill to quickly heal their injured ears.
